Hello all. If someone who has had similar problems knows of a solution, I'd greatly appreciate your input:

I have four wired Xbox-360 GameStop controllers plugged into the USB ports of my computer. I am running Windows-XP SP-3 and have downloaded the appropriate drivers from Microsoft to play with the controllers on my computer.

1) Initially, I set up all of the controllers with the configurations I thought I wanted, but after much play-testing, I'd like to reconfigure the controller buttons. The problem I am having with this is when the controllers are plugged and I try and change the buttons, it says, "ERROR Sorry the input selection made is already in use", so I cannot change the buttons which is a little frustrating.

2) When playing Mario Kart 64, randomly the 'Z' button stops working. Unplugging the USB port and plugging it back in sometimes resolves the problem, sometimes not. All four controllers will suffer from this problem, but not necessarily all at the same time. And the effects don't always start immediately, but sometimes in the middle of the game. I figured it was a controller issue, but I have the latest drivers so I can't figure out what the issue might be.

3) When playing Banjo Tooie and Perfect Dark multiplayer, the view continually looks "up" for certain controllers, but similar to problem #2, its random in nature affecting some of the controllers some of the time. The player# or controller# seems to matter not - its random. It usually starts immediately upon loading the game. I haven't had any issues when playing single-player mode.

EDIT: 4) One thing I forgot about. When playing Mario Party, in certain mini-games where you control the character on the screen, when pressing the Analog controller diagonally SE (right-down), the character actually moves NW (left-up).

Note: The controllers work fine single/multiplayer with Bomberman 64 and many other N64 games, not to mention with other games on the PC, so I don't believe the problem is defective controllers.

Thanks for any input you guys might have ahead of time.

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier: I changed controller plug-in's and set-up the correct button configurations last night before I went to bed. I tried Mario Kart out and it worked fine so, I need to test it multiplayer today and see if the problem persists. Will edit in here what happens.

EDIT: I'm using the N-Rage Direct-Input8 plugin and now all the games I was having trouble with are working flawlessly in multiplayer. The only issue is with Mario Kart; anything set on the Z axis automatically triggers the Z button, even if you have the Z button binded to a different button. This is a bit annoying because it's much easier to "drift" using the RT and LT buttons instead of the RB and LB buttons, but oh well.

PROBLEM SOLVED!
