hey there,
i´ve came here for the same reason ..
i want to play some of those old games on my computer.
It was said that there will come a "huge" update and a final version will be released which is free for everybody..love, peace and harmony. ^^funny
anyway.. one general question: does it worth 20us dollar?
i would spend 20dollar for it.. but a little review of this version but be nice.
maybe someone who owns it can tell me if i should donate.

I thought I would chip in here...
Q: Is the beta worth 20 dollars?
A: The donation is for the future development of the emulator. So of course its worth the $20. Without donations the authors would have very little reason to continue development. As incentive, for you to donate, they give you access to the latest betas. If you would like to see the emulator "grow" then donate to developers.

I am not intent on attack or the like, and I'm not assuming who wrote what I quote below.
Anyone who wants to chip in, I respect that.
"As incentive, for you to donate, they give you access to the latest betas. If you would like to see the emulator "grow" then donate to developers."
Does anyone sense some contradiction between those two statements?

I was more than happy to pay even for 1.6. when they were giving it away free. They have made something that I like using and in so I am happy to donate money. The newer versions of 1.7 are a big improvement as well. But they have there problems and are BETAs. People pay because they wish to help development or because they like what the PJ64 team has done and wish to show there apprehension. Lets face it $20 is nothing in the big picture of things.

We don't need "beta access" to actually do either of those things though.
Except maybe "show our apprehension (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/apprehension)".
They themselves are the designers of Project64's future. They should be responsible for being aware of the changes they commit, not really us.
They may still need beta testers...but that should be a contest of trust, not money....
Worded in child philosophy, the beta wouldn't have been leaked for a start, but they probably don't care about that point, either.
