I have been using Project 64 to play Majora's Mask and I have encountered a very annoying issue with using save states. For some reason save states work on and off.

Sometimes the save works, and sometimes it doesn't. Even when I save like 20 times to make sure a save got in, it will still not work (it seems to be based on "time periods" whether in the game or in real life).

But yeah, at certain times, saving just WILL NOT work. How can I fix this? It gets really annoying because I will try to restore my save state, but end up restoring a save I did like an hour ago.

This sounds like the typical save state instability problem. It has to do with where the save state occured. When it saves, it saves EVERY bit of data at that current spot in the game, including what exact point it was at in a music track or sound, if the character was moving..whatever was stored in RAM at the time.. the position of EVERY bit of data in the game, including any unstable code in the core... but NOT the whole game.

This is like the problem I have with Turok 3, where the audio just quits randomly during a restore, and a reset is the only way to fix it. Try resetting the ROM and then try restoring the save slot. If it doesn't work, then there really isn't anything you can do. Maybe in a future release will this problem possibly be less or non-occuring, but no guarentees. And don't ask when a release will come out.

Hope this helps a little ... shrugs
