I know you guys aren't too find of these types of threads, but I couldn't find any information regarding my system specs, and the emulator's compatibility, so I could use some help.

I'm running an HP Laptop DV 2000 Series
NVIDIA GeForce 7150M/nForce 630m video card
The processor is an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 running @ 1.9 GHz
I have 2GB of RAM installed
And I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate

I'm currently getting between 12-35 FPS, on games as simple as Super Smash Bros.

Can I boost the FPS somehow, or is my system too "low end" to fun at a moderately good FPS?

Thanks for your time,
Alexander M.

I'm not too familiar with that nVidia card. Is that a PCI-E card? Anyway, you're far from being too "low end" for good FPS. My system is way older than yours and I'm running a single core Athalon CPU (and getting an average 57-60 FPS). Chances are it's probably the plugins you are using. I haven't tried Super Smash Bros. Perhaps someone else here knows of game specific settings that would work better. Try using Jabo's D3D6 and use a lower Full Screen Res. Stay away from Windowed res settings. Windowed tends to be slower I noticed. Try turning AA & AF off, or lower.

I just tried that plugin, didn't really make a difference.

Any suggestions for other plugins, I'm a "n00b" to the whole Project 64 scene (I just downloaded it today)

I'd like to know if it's just SSB. Have you tried any other games? Try Goldeneye or Catlevania64. I have 9 total, and all run at near to full FPS. Those are 2 I know work well. I also know that Turok 3, Duke Nukem 64, and Zelda OOT run at near to full speed. You are using the Recomplier core, and NOT the Interpreter right? If you have version 1.6 then Recompiler will default as it is the fasted one to use. I know you are a noob, but did you manage to change any advanced settings?

I did change a couple things, such as unlimiting the FPS, and setting the memory size from 4mb to 8.

And yes, I am using the Recompiler.
Also I am getting somewhat good FPS on 1 other game I tried, Wave Race (Gets about 40-55)

And another thing, I tried to play HotWheel Turbo Racing, but it won't let me go past the "Rumble Pack Controller Not Found" screen, this is the only game that has this problem so far.

Ok, so I grabbed 6 games yesterday, one of them being Super Smash Brothers. I wanted to try this game and see for myself. The game runs flawlessly at 59-60 FPS. I played it for almost an hour until suddenly out of nowhere while in the middle of a level the computer just up and totally restarts itself. No idea what caused this. Some kind of instability issue maybe. My computer is messed up.

All the other games I tried out, including Perfect Dark & Resident Evil 2 ran fine with a few minor glitches. You may want to look into display driver updates. get the latest updates/patches that you can find. Is that a dual core CPU . I am thinking it would be because you noted (X2). I think there is some kind of patch that allows dual core CPU's to work simo with PJ64. This may improve your performance.

That tells me you have windows XP, one of Windows XP's default system settings is to restart on system crash so you had a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death, or blue screen Microsoft uses both terms)
