Where are you trying to install it to? And do you have administrator privileges? What OS are you running ? XP, Vista, Windows 7 ? You may not have the permissions to install programs if someone else has locked it out. I'm not sure what else that could be....... anyone else got any clues?

This is the exact same issue I came here for.
I can explain the problem a little better...
This occurs during setup at the point where its "calculating disc space"
At this point the installer brings up an error saying it cannot access a location. This location is a network resource, and in my case its asking for a picture folder (\\...\my documents\my pictures on a computer that no longer exists on my network.
I have erased all of the "links" in my network places but to no avail. Same error, same problem.
Basically the installer is failing because it thinks it cannot access a hard drive I think.
I am currently running windows XP. This has also happened on a windows 7 64bit computer as well. Same type of error. Not sure if its the same exact folder but its also requesting the same computer that doesnt exist. (chrisoffice).
Assume both of these computers are in operational condition with no viruses or administrator issues with access to a network.
Also assume they can potentially be missing service packs or .net files or C++ deployment files (or any other extras that games sometimes require)
The windows7 computer was recently reinstalled (say within a month) and the xp computer is a lower end computer delegated to roms and browser use and hasnt had a lot of exposure to video games.
By lower end I mean 3ghz pent with an on board ati card and a gig of ram.
I am going to continue to try to install this on multiple computers and see if it takes. In the mean time if anyone knows what is going on with this it could save me some troubleshooting.
edit: Problem resolved. To the op (if it still isnt fixed): create a new windows user account (admin level) and install from there.
Then you can run it from any account.
You may even be able to install it on another computer and then transfer the files, but I didn't test it. I would assume you could.
No idea why it kept trying to access a network share that no longer exists (or any network share at all for that mater).
and even more odd that it would fail after that. Oh well, working now.
