I got a Project64 v1.2 and not sure how to update it... O: Can anyone teach me how to update to v1.6 please? :3

You have to download the new version; in order to keep your saves you will have to choose the load directory to where your saves are somehow, sorry that I can't give exact details, my computer isn't on, and it's been a while since I switched from 1.4 to 1.6. But if you don't change the load dir. you will have to restart all of your games :(
