After downloading and opening the .exe installation file it loads two times and after its done loading nothing else happens. However, after a few seconds my computer starts freezing. I think this is a very rare issue, but what's the solution? I really want to play some Nintendo 64 games again.

Thank-you

With the official installer something was up with the NSIS basis.

If you have support for ZIP compression archives you can also get 1.6 from here.

Thank-you for the download link! I downloaded it and ran the .exe file which opened Project 64. Now, the next question I have has nothing to do with this topic, but here it goes. I've heard about plug-ins that make game qualities way higher than they originally are. What plug-ins or other things do I need? How do I use them?

Plug-ins supporting N64 texture replacement in RAM.

First Rice implemented this feature in 2005.

By 2008 Glide64 supported it.

In the beta development Jabo's plug-in for the 1.7 version can dump and load custom textures in RAM as well.

For all of those there are high-resolution retexture projects you can download.
