View Full Version : "Failed to load plugin"

Alright. I've been googling this for three hours, and many people have had similar problems, but I cannot find the precise solution.

I simply cannot change plugins. This happens to 1964 as well as to PJ64. Neither Glide nor Rice's works. When I open the Settings window in PJ64, a slew of error messages pop up telling me that the program failed to open glide, rice's, msvcr71.dll, msvcp71.dll, etc. I found and downloaded the .dlls, installed them in the plugin folder and in the registry, and nothing changed. I've downloaded and installed the Visual C++ runtimes (2005, 2008).

Now, when this problem has come up previously, rswedlow has recommended putting the files in the same place as projec~1.exe. I cannot find this file. googling it doesn't help either; it just links me to crap programmes which tell me I have 500 issues but won't fix them if I don't buy the full version.

I'm convinced there's some kind of dll, registry problem that is stopping me and other people in the past from being able to change plugins. As it happens, I'm doing this to play Ogre Battle 64 without the black backgrounds. Help would be very, very much appreciated.

Visual C++ runtimes (2005, 2008).

which don't contain the VC7 runtime. you need to install .net framework 1.1

5th October 2010, 02:36 AM
Not unless the auto-bot is an auto-promoted admin on the forum.

Every day when Mr. Autobahn!!1!1 gets home from work, he logs onto his new auto-made pj64-emu forum account, draws a random number from his/its hat, and that number is the user ID of who to ban.

Mood raffling. :D

That sounds like how everything is run nowadays anyway. Sounds okay to me.

5th October 2010, 10:13 PM
Pah, EmuTalk at least. I can imagine how big their ban list is, even though I deserved mine the most. ^_^

Just get home from a bad day at work, draw a number from your hat, ok this is the user ID of who I'll ban to put off the stress in my inferior testes. One of the digits in someone's ID resembled Wario to them, so they did a redraw and got mine.

I did a while back. It's a little more general than I would like though, but if I can ever help anybody, I shall.

7th October 2010, 08:45 PM
lol you could say that

Well I think that's why users kept to there instead of posting on sites like this one. EmuTalk was originally founded to organize N64 projects, but it became an informational source for development and progress in emulation for various platforms. So they probably feel that posting on there (which covers more emulation subjects than does here) gives them that more knowledgeable or positional feel to posting on here or whatever, even though they rationally do the same amount of double-post/multi-thread whining that goes on here.

9th October 2010, 01:50 AM
I can vaguely picture how...wait, yeah, I get it.

Well I've done that anyway as Zora Link, accidentally karate-chopping Tingle's balloon in mid-air.

Experiment #150
9th October 2010, 02:46 AM
Oh yeah, that would be fun. Makes me want to play Majora's Mask now. So much in fact, that I started it last night. Never actually played it before, which surprises me, almost as much as the fact that I've actually only played OoT once through.. hmmm...

9th October 2010, 04:23 AM
MM is more awesome than OOT.
OOT is just more epic and more awesome for people who need a bunch of space to wander around in split dimensions.

Experiment #150
9th October 2010, 05:24 AM
Yeah, like I said, I wanted to play it so much I started last night :P
I have started it many times, but I always got so anxious to be Zora link, it is the last one anyway. I would just put on that cheat. Now I am actually playing it through; I did put on the levitation cheat to see if you could climb up that really high ladder on the potion shop in the swamp.

9th October 2010, 05:45 AM
Yeah I know what you mean. MM actually had more to explore than OOT did. OOT was just split into large divisional areas to wander around and choose between. The ladder thing as it turns out you climb it, but um let's just say there's no point behind it.

The scenery as you play through the game is much more realistic, with or without the motion blur and other effects.

Experiment #150
9th October 2010, 05:58 PM
What do you mean I can climb it? I floated right through it :P
Yep, it is more realistic, and I found it interesting that beneath the floating skull kid was the triforce, except that the top "sacred triangle" was beneath the other two.

10th October 2010, 01:29 AM
I don't remember anything about the sacred triangle appearing in Zelda MM, except on the design of the Ocarina of Time if you look close at it.

Um iirc you can stand on top of the Magic Hag's Potion Shop and climb the ladder.

Experiment #150
10th October 2010, 06:23 PM
Hmm, possibly, maybe it's only triggered from one side? Anyway, it isn't even connected to the top, so I figured it was just for looks, as it looks as if it leads to the top from the front view of the house.

11th October 2010, 03:41 AM
Yeah it is for looks, don't take you anywhere I noticed, just remember Link being able to interact with the ladder. I probably remember wrong though so don't take me too seriously.

Experiment #150
11th October 2010, 05:35 PM
Ok, I won't.

You: Natnatertatertot!!! I'm being held at gunpoint! Call the cops!

Awww.... my name isn't in the dictionary... well, we can change that!

....The best it can do to correct it is Chatterton?

Experiment #150
11th October 2010, 07:36 PM
Freakin' tokkuri just stole my sword :S

11th October 2010, 08:18 PM
Well I said too seriously. If that happens just don't go like OMG and blow up.

"Chatterton" lol why aren't both of us named that

The Takkurai guy steals stuff from you if you have yourself armed towards the offense but also even if not then. It can steal any of your swords (like also the Great Fairy's Sword if you have it), your bottles, not sure what else. But if you shoot it from a distance (or just jump attack it at the right timings) and kill it it spits out 200 rupees. It'd be much faster cash to kill regular enemies with light arrow shots, which usually gives you 50 rupees as well.

For some reason that bird apparently works for the Curiosity Shop. XD Go there if you want your stolen stuff back.

Experiment #150
11th October 2010, 08:52 PM
Yeah, I already looked up how to get that sword back, and I have killed it once before, when I was just messing around with the game. I decided to just start the trio of days over and just kill that dancing tribal buffoon again :P Currently working on the snowhead temple.

11th October 2010, 09:48 PM
The second half of the Snowhead Temple I think is where you see the challenge in this game's dungeons system that isn't present in Zelda OOT. It gets even harder in the Great Bay Temple.

Have you ever collected 15 stray fairies before?

Experiment #150
12th October 2010, 12:21 AM
Yeah, in the swamp dungeon. I actually took a break in the snowhead temple to get the bunny hood, as that may come in handy.

12th October 2010, 12:26 AM
I can't think of a scenario where the Bunny Hood is needed, except **if you hate doing a tackle right before the jump* the silver rupee hidden up in the corner at East Clock Town. You don't actually need the mask to get it if you just do a roll when running to leap after it, but still running faster in that game is always a plus. (Like it would be for Quest 64. :P)

Ironically the Woodfall Temple complexity and stray fairy locations don't even register compared to the later three. The upper-level spin attack is useful though.

Experiment #150
12th October 2010, 05:06 PM
Yeah. Apparently with the bunny hood in the post office when you try to hit 10 seconds or whatever, if you wear the bunny hood the timer disappears. Now I just need to find out how to get into the post office :P

Experiment #150
12th October 2010, 05:10 PM
Oh yeah, and I blew up the guy that steals the bomb bag. :P Maybe I should attack him with my sword instead of arrows...

12th October 2010, 08:49 PM
Oh yeah, and I blew up the guy that steals the bomb bag. :P Maybe I should attack him with my sword instead of arrows...

LMAO I remember trying that and actually seeing it work.

I mean, if you let him get away, you get the Couple's Mask later.
If you rescue the bomb bag he stole from the old lady, you get the Blast Mask.
But if you just blow the man up, XD you get nothing except a really pissed old lady and a nonexistent smiling thief to cheer everyone up.

I forgot about the Post Office thing with the Bunny Hood.
You know that's how I learned to count exact seconds. :P I just did it in my head without the timer.

To get into the Post Office, on the night of the First Day it's open during night until 1 AM.

Experiment #150
12th October 2010, 09:36 PM
Hmm... that would be good, I'm always a smidgen fast on my seconds. I already knew about the mask thing, as I had looked up how to get into Kafie's laundromat, or whatever it is. Also, thanks for the Post office tip, I'll go in there later.

12th October 2010, 10:06 PM
If you had the beta you could limit the frame rate to 15 VI/s instead of 60 so that rhythmically mastering the music of the rate of one second becomes 4x easier.

The place where Kafei dwells is the back of the Curiosity Shop o_O curious. I found out how to get there by luck I think or by skill I forget which, but I didn't look it up.

Experiment #150
12th October 2010, 10:42 PM
I've always tried ringing the bell, then sneaking in, but he runs too fast.

12th October 2010, 10:44 PM
Oh well yeah I used to try that, even if you have like the Stone Mask or something that wouldn't work or then roll as Goron Link.

In theory I could make a GameShark cheat that modifies Link's three-dimensional position coordinates on the world map and moves him straight over to the door after Kafei runs out, but I don't think it would be unlocked anyway.

Besides I've never made an XYZ coordinate modifier cheat for a game, although it can't be hard except for the fact that it may be floating point storage.

Experiment #150
13th October 2010, 01:26 AM
It'd be fun to be a giant link (or mini link) in Majoras Mask. There was a cheat like that for Ocarina of Time.

13th October 2010, 01:46 AM
Well, for Giant Link, there is the Giant's Mask, but it can never work anywhere except where fighting Twinmold.

Something similar for Mario64 though + broken leg. It was like one of them Tom 'n Jerry shows.

Experiment #150
13th October 2010, 03:04 AM
Yeah, I know about the Giant's mask, and I was kinda peeved that you can only use it in one place :S

13th October 2010, 03:06 AM
They could at least design the Game Over cinema of the moon crashing on Clock Tower and destroying all of Termina in response to Link putting on the Giant's Mask from inside it. :/

Experiment #150
13th October 2010, 09:29 PM
No, I think Link just changes in size, not in density :P

Anyway, I beat the Snowhead temple, got all the faeries too :P That extra magic came in handy. I think I'll do that Romani Ranch sidequest before I go on to being a zora. Oh wait, I kinda have to anyway :P

14th October 2010, 12:51 AM
Mass pertains to density, so this suggests molecular expansion.
Nice it wasn't easy for me to get all the stray fairies from the later temples. At least I didn't have to look them up though. :P

The extra magic is very important for most boss fights, but it links more closely to your survival when fighting Gyrog (Water Temple boss).

Well actually umm you don't have to get Epona from the ranch before entering the Great Bay region (over that fence that Epona jumps) if you umm, well make this cheat where Vegeta stands by the fence, waits for Goron Link to roll over and then smacks him upside the head, knocking him over the fence to Great Bay.

Experiment #150
14th October 2010, 03:11 AM
Naw, vegeta dun need halp meeee
I didn't actually need a walkthrough :P I found them all by myself. (-_,-)

Well, I got the timer thing done on the first try :P With the bunny ears of course :P Trying to get the postman's hat currently. I've seen the water temple before, kinda putting it off :P

14th October 2010, 05:40 PM
Hm I did just sort of assume that if you needed to look up how to get inside the back of the Curiosity Shop where Kafei hides that you would normally have had more difficulty with finding the stray fairies in the temple. Of course if you have the Great Fairy's Mask it just takes persistence until you see what to do in each room.

My brother currently is stuck on the Great Bay Temple (if that's what you meant when you said Water Temple). If you know what to do, it's not as challenging as the Stone Tower Temple, but it's harder to see what to do I think because of all the dynamic navigation.

I don't remember off the bat, just how to get the Postman's Hat. You let Sakon steal the bomb bag from the lady so that Kafei goes running after him, then enter the back of the Curiosity Shop in the afternoon of the Final Day while he's out. Basically you end up getting the Keaton's Mask, during the process of getting the Postman's Hat. You don't have to do the timer thing to get it though.

Experiment #150
14th October 2010, 07:09 PM
Yeah, Great Bay Temple. Currently working on getting there, just gotta find all the eggs. All I got from the timer was a piece of a heart :C

14th October 2010, 11:45 PM
Yep that's all the timer thing is for: Another heart piece and an update to the Bombers' Notebook (or, more rupees and practice :P). To actually get the Postman's Hat you have to deliver priority mail to the Postman. Actually I think you might need the Romani Mask to accomplish this, because the Postman will be in the Milk Bar on the night of the Final Day. Bah, nvm, that's only if you give it to Madame Aroma directly, in which case she just gives you a stupid bottle.

Finding all of the eggs was annoying for me, but it's less so when you don't ever get caught. You might want to get the Stone Mask first if you want to cheat your way through.

To get the priority mail that the Postman wants you see that ass-scratching dude who works in the Curiosity Shop, meeting him in the back when Kafei's gone.

Experiment #150
15th October 2010, 12:00 AM
Hmm, ok.

Yeah, I got the stone mask earlier, I took the wrong path and healed the invisi-soldier.

dsx!
15th October 2010, 12:32 AM
I love Majora's Mask, but I still can't decide whether it beats Ocarina of Time.

15th October 2010, 01:39 AM
If you took the "wrong path", as in you found it accidentally and just happened to use the Lens of Truth while you were there and found him, then um you have some uncanny habits.

Thinking back on Ocarina of Time, I feel with it spiritually. Yet nothing beats the memories I had in simulating around with MM. When I remember "Project Reality", though, I think of MM, not OOT. The music wasn't as classically good as in OOT, one might say, but I feel it was deeper and more cultural, sometimes morbid, darker and well, more "realistic". I thought it was fascinating.

Experiment #150
15th October 2010, 04:05 PM
Yeah, it really is amazing what kind of things I can do accidentally. I can accidentally click "delete" instead of "open" and then "yes" instead of "no" :P
In fact, I've done that quite a bit. Oh, by the way, I'm trying to go through the game without a walkthrough, and it's gone quite well. Not sure if I'll make it through the Great Bay Temple though :P

I actually saw the circle of rocks and checked it out, as they usually mean something.

Oh, and Majoras Mask is definitely better than Ocarina of Time :P Ocarina of Time is still awesome though.

15th October 2010, 08:14 PM
Oh I see, well yeah you can't really run through the guy if you go over to the circle. Still though other than that the non-intentional features are pretty impressive. :P

If you have the talent to make it through the Great Bay Temple, you'll have a hell of a time climbing the Ikana region and making it to the temple of Stone Tower.

Experiment #150
15th October 2010, 09:18 PM
I'll make it through. Hey, can I have a cheat that gives me climbing gear?

15th October 2010, 11:02 PM
In theory, but I don't know how to create it XD. You could always roll as Goron Link and use up magic with turbo speed, while using the press L to levitate cheat, look like he's flying up some invisible slide to the sky till he passes out from lack of oxygen in the atmosphere and falls back down head first.

Experiment #150
16th October 2010, 12:07 AM
The only problem with levitating as a rolling Goron is that you can't make any turns :\ But no, I'm actually playing it here!

16th October 2010, 06:44 PM
Well, if turning as Goron Link was impossible, then the Snowhead construct realm up at the moon wouldn't be nearly as frustrating, even though it took me like 500 retries until I'd see you just don't do anything except keep rolling to make it through. Once you have your initial position set, supposedly you're supposed to not move and just keep going.

I turned all the time as turbo-rolling Goron Link in Termina Field, though, just had to get infinite magic.

Experiment #150
16th October 2010, 07:21 PM
Well, yeah, about the "at the moon" thing, I don't know what you are talking about, but don't spoil it for me :P

Yeah, you can turn when rolling on the ground, just not in the air. Something to do with friction I guess :P

16th October 2010, 07:33 PM
Well I think it's that you can rotate a bit to adjust your landing angle while you're rolling in the air, but you can't change both your X and Y movements simultaneously while you're in the air. In this case, Goron Link is constantly rolling forward.

Experiment #150
16th October 2010, 09:34 PM
Yeah, yeah, that's pretty much what I meant.

16th October 2010, 10:13 PM
Except the friction part but yeah. :D

Experiment #150
17th October 2010, 12:56 AM
When I said "I hate you" I really meant "Cat's like to pee on stuff"

Experiment #150
18th October 2010, 12:11 AM
Watch out for the bus.

THE ONE IN FRONT OF YOU!!!

Oh yeah, you can't see.

Oh well, good thing I know a street cleaner :P

18th October 2010, 12:34 AM
No bus. I already told you foo', Sheep must be this tall to ride.

And I may be nearsighted like bloody hell, but I'm not that bad holy crap. True I see things best at like, 3 or 6 inches away from the object I'm looking at, but well I wasn't always like that you know. *cries* Or was I...I forgot.

And the not wearing my glasses to school thing was non-fiction cause people would stereotype me and look to me for intelligence and crap, which very well I may possess. But people talking to me annoys me so FUUU!U!!!!

Experiment #150
18th October 2010, 04:06 AM
Yeah, that stereotype annoys me, no matter how true it must be.

18th October 2010, 04:37 AM
It's charming of the girls, but as long as I'm not a part of it then I don't have a problem with it.

It's an interesting perspective though. The necessity of wearing glasses behind nearsightedness or farsightedness, linked to the idea of a compromising disability shifting the balance to promote advantage to other areas of ability such as learning ability or skills in math and reading.
Or being...ATHLEEEETIIIIIC!!!11! YEAAAAAAAAAA--*squall punches me in the shoulder*

How romantic. Yet like I said, true as it may be, I don't want a part of it. I'll judge who, if anybody, I want attention from.

Experiment #150
18th October 2010, 03:47 PM
Judge a Judge, and try to get away with it.

19th October 2010, 02:00 AM
Well, technically, if there was no judgment in this world, then there would also be no hatred. With only perceptibility but no judgmental senses, everyone would be high.

Everyone always gets away with judging a fellow member of the spectrum of judgmental humans.

19th October 2010, 10:37 PM
I remember from a chapter in High School class of Psychology that people's behaviors are more influenced to change consistently when their correct actions are rewarded with positive experience than when their actions deemed incorrect are punished with negative experience. Something like that anyway....

squall_leonhart
20th October 2010, 12:04 AM
reward based development leads to spoilt adults however,

20th October 2010, 12:21 AM
I'm not a father, but I think brats become spoiled adults when they're continually used to getting what they want just because they want them, which is different from the idea of reward. Working to accomplish something or help others and receiving some kind of reward (not necessarily ice cream or material rewards but other forms of positive experience of some sort) was what I had in mind.

Both of my parents hate spoiled children, but they themselves are commandingly demanding. Ass-whippings, bitching, and threats run in both of their families, which are negative experiences.

Experiment #150
20th October 2010, 01:32 AM
Oh, I have so much fun with spoiled little brats.

That's not true I RTFM'd and it said, "We don't want any." :nono:

Any cake? What?

Oh, hey, since I can't find where we were talking about Majoras Mask, I just beat the Skulltula houses. I'm kinda holding off on going to the Great Bay Temple :P

dsx!

I LOVE all the stuff prior to the temple. Pirates Fortress and the Zora Hall are simply awesome or amazing. So is that Skulltula house. But yeah the temple isn't as bad as the Water Temple, but it can still get annoying and tricky.

Wo'ot! I just beat it, got all the faries, etc. I'm trying my best to not need walkthroughs. Doing good so far.

That was fairly fast, but dude wasn't that one stray fairy hard past the north-most room where you need the ice arrows to get through to enter? You had to stand on the full tip end of the platform before the water, look behind you and hook shot all the way up to get the stray fairy? I kept needed to tip-toe forward or fall into the water until it was just right to reach up to there.

In the cheat forum I released a code that instantly warps you to any room area in Zelda MM, but I didn't complete it to support exact entry spot specification. That will be like 500 lines of code and up, but for this game I feel it's worth it.

"Oh, hey, since I can't find where we were talking about Majoras Mask, I just beat the Skulltula houses."
Oh you won't find that until like, the end. When I mentioned the Snowhead construct realm up at the moon, I mean it's on the moon.
edit, or you could just use my special warp cheat to take you there right now :P

Methinks you misunderstood me... Actually, the hardest part for me was figuring out to shoot the water. I guess I thought it must have been heated or something :P

21st October 2010, 09:41 PM
The only hard part for me was navigation. Yeah though naturally it only makes sense that water gets out of your way when you shoot cold temperature at it if it's um, really that cold.

Yeah, but when I see a video game where ALL the laws of physics and chemistry and biology and stuff actually work like they are supposed to, then I'll die a happy man. By committing suicide because it would have to be a dream that I have to wake up from :P

22nd October 2010, 01:22 AM
I wonder if it's possible to strictly design games like that. Just thinking about it bores me, though; it's not like they're reality just because they look like it.

Experiment #150

Yeah. It's sad though, that people would pay anything to get out of their life and get a new one. I mean, look at World of Warcraft. That costs like, what, $100 in the end? Maybe more? And of course there is time cost as well :P

22nd October 2010, 11:23 PM
I guess. I wouldn't want to be the guy spending all my money on a game simulating every aspect of a theoretically improved life.

Experiment #150

Neither do I. I wouldn't even play it when I have real life. However, it would be good in places to study things, such as in a schoolroom.

Something interesting I found whilst fighting the Great Bay Temple boss by the way. If you levitate up through where you fell in, then the big ol' fish will follow you :P

23rd October 2010, 07:30 AM
Dude, are you serious? Can't check it out this instant, but I will next chance I get.

Yeah, it's pretty fun :P

It seems you have failed. I've been taking screenshots of my journey as well, from the fun of levitation to just whatever. Did you float all the way up the entrance? He follows you and swims around (and in) you.

25th October 2010, 03:54 AM
He doesn't, actually. Maybe you have a bad dump? :P

Only time he goes that high up above the platform is if he's planning to jump out of the water before you levitate off the ground.
