View Full Version : What do you want in Project64 ?

We are considering new features that people would want in pj64 which are not in 1.6
So far the different ideas we have are these.

High texture replacement
Net play
Quick switching mempacks
Configuring short cut keys
7zip support
Cheat Creation tools
Transfer pak for pokemon stadium
Save selected plugin per game
Backup instant saves
Better widescreen support

What things would you love in pj64 but we have never done? Got an idea then post your idea to this thread (http://www.emutalk.net/project64/33401-what-do-you-want-project64.html#post319983) on project64 forum

LAN and NET play. my whole web design class plays your emulator once we are done with our work. it would be awesome to play super smash bros. or mario kart 64 over the internet with each other. maybe even some goldeneye.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this

I have started a project on n64 roms in the format of : .n64, v64, z64 and so on

What I am trying is to disable the save functions on all roms that have the ability to save.

When I say disable I mean completely disable it as if it was never coded to save

I am not sure if there is a utility to do this already available if there is please let me know where I can get it.

If there isn’t then can you give me the Hex address for the save ability I am sure that all the n64 roms that have the ability to save have this address located in the same place.

Hope you lot can point me towards the right direction

you get the dll file by downloading and installing Direct X 9.0c off of

Out of the ideas you mentioned, Texture replacement, and Net Play would be the top two on my list. Add to that maybe some better framebuffer support for more games, Pokemon Snap for example, would be great. Of course that's likely a lot harder than it sounds.

ALSO SUPPORT ONLY WIN MCE,XP, VISTA as well as only dx9-10 very few people are using older video cards such as voodoofx cards anymore.

also for netplay make it so atleast 4 seperate computers can connect. are they any games that are more than 4 players? (i dunno just curious)

a chat feature would be nice as well. for text and if possible for in game voice, but only as an option, text is much more prefered

yer what about transfer packs for all gameboy advance games that have a Nintendo 64 equivalent,

or maybe a microphone plugin so i can play "Hey you pikachu" - i have always wanted to play that.
or the frame buffer in "pokemon snap" when i change the settings for the fix it runs way to slow.
Skins so that people can change the way pj64 looks - not that theres anything wrong with the interface might just not be to everyones liking.

Ahhh... fixing up the glitches in the games would be a first-on-the-list thing to do, now wouldn't it?

1. Make the album accesable in "Pokemon Snap"

2. Prevent the "ACCESS VIOLATION ERROR" in the final boss battle of "Megaman 64"

3. Fix the graphical glitches in the start menus for both "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time", and "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask"

4. Provide voice support for "Hey You, Pikachu!", which is rendered unplayable without it

5. Provide compatability for the 20 or so games that cannot be played correctly on P64

There are many others, but I'm sure you already know about them.

Now, for NEW features...

1. Support for re-texuring with Rice's graphics plug-in

2. The ability to capture video

3. MANY more cheats, and the ability for the progam to hold MORE cheats

4. The ability to be backwards compatable with older Nintendo consoles, such as the NES, GB, and SNES.

5. Fast netplay, as displayed in P64K

That's all I can think of for now, eh.

I will like a way to see the roms group, for example like in the MAME, that roms that are similar are on a tree view, so if you have a zip, 7z or any other with different version (U)(E)(J) you will see them togheter

Mario Kart.7z
- Mario Tenis.7z
- Mario Tenis (J).z64
- Mario Tenis (E).z64
- Mario Tenis (U).z64
Mario 64.7z
-Mario Party 2.7z
- Mario Party 2(U).z64
- Mario Party 2(U).z64
Mario Party 3.7z

Other thing is that for each game the video plugin may need a different configuration, or even a different video plugin, depending on the game. For instance Alpha Blend on in some games, but off in others.
I will love if PJ64 could remember that, so I don't need to configure the video plugin every time I use a game and them changed for another game. So it will remember each particular plugin configuration for each game

Thanks

lol, some of you people don't understand how computers/programs/games work. 'an editor to make custom maps on games'? that's not possible.

how hard would it be to make a microphone plugin? that should just be a transfer of audio from your connected mic to the emulator/rom, right?
and if a microphone plugin was made, what's to say it couldn't take audio from other places? *wonders how MS sam text-to-speech would do on HYP*

I vote microphone plugin (or SOMEONE make one), mouse support, and transfer pack. Also, has anyone figured out how to make pokemon snap accept the pokemon signs pictures?

Implement "Bloom Shading" and "Cel Shading" on the video plugin to enhance N64 games.
I suggest functionality to add shaders and stuff to the video plugin so that we can enhance the graphics of our N64 games.

Also, online play that allows you to connect over the game and have someone over the internet take control of one of the other three players.

I have found that save states (F5/F7) sometimes mess sound permanently, sometimes saving in turok 3 oblivion and reloading mute all sounds, even after advance to another area or reload all pj64 doesnt help, there will be no sound/music anymore. I tried many plugins and all settings, it has probably nothing to do with that. 1964 did work well but had other big problems(timming issues).

One more thing, save state loading(F7) often cause on any game and settings random crash/quit to desktop w/o any message. I have Windows XP 64bit. Curently I use self-recompiled version of mupen64 with RSP and video plugin from pj64 1.6 and there are not any problems with save states(thats why I believe its not my hw/drivers).

PJ64 should have built in memory editor and other hacking tools like some of the other N64 emulators. There are ways of doing it, but these features would help dramatically. Especially when creating these ridiculous cheats as I do...;)

I know, but I'd rather not clutter up my computer with 10 (i'm exaggerating obviously) different versions of emulators for each console, when I can just have one that does all. That's also what the motto for Emucraze is;)

Most people can't anymore. There were only TWO games that used the microphone; that's not enough reason to start figuring out how to emulate the mic. Maybe once PJ64 has been perfectly completed, and Zilmar has nothing else to do, he may just decide to work on that. However, if the game means that much to you, why not just buy a real N64 and the game? From what I hear the N64 emulates N64 games PERFECTLY.

There are people who believe 911 wasn't a government conspiracy. doesn't change the fact it was.

just started with the beta and its awesome guys great work :)

I think as long as the zeldas, DK64, banjo kazooies and possibly goemon work flawlessly ill be happy.

dk64 especially seeing as emulation is the only way people will ever play it without the cartrage in the future seeing as rare was bought by microsoft and dk is owned by nintendo the red tape strung everywhere means we probably wont see it released ever again. Its still pretty buggy emulated too. its come a looong way since 1.6 though.

Something else that might be nice is the ability to set a picture next to the games in the game list so you can quickly look for games in the list. Plus it looks nice.

Again, great work guys <3 you for it.

Project 64 does support Xbox 360 controllers I set up my sons controller to work on it on his laptop you just have to DL the drivers and go into the input to configure it also make sure you have the right version of PJ64 I can't remember what version I got for him but I would love internet play also so I can play Mario Kart 64 with my son who lives in another state

I would also love internet play. I remember when i played a modified version of Project 64 and i played with 3 other people in Mario Kart. It worked pretty fine. The bad thing is that it's 4 p mode, so i can see the other's screens when playing, but that is not that important. I can't wait for the full release of Project 1.7. When will we have a new release date?

Release date: once it's finished.

And it never will be.

Okay kidding, but still, the release dates are more of guidelines than anything else, as we've seen with the previous release dates, since in programming, everything you do conflicts with something else you've done :p

Release date: tits or gtfo.

lol sorry no

but seriously, after the collapse of the past two release dates, all you can think of to ask for is a third release date XD :D?
why would you want that? why not wish for 1.7 instead?

You can start by making a difference or whatever I guess.

I know from experience just how encouraging this is lol, but I don't care.

Chansey always warmly cares for your donations.

There's an insert coin slot around the egg for quarters there somewhere.

Note: Quarter slot does not accept Manchurian death tokens

Yeah, but you could always fork one of those coins down the fat bitch Chansey's throat and watch him roll over and play dead.

But it's an online donation anyway, so that stuff probably handles itself automatically.
