Seems there was a bug in some of the new code that handled self modified code. It broke half a dozen reported games, that has now been fixed and a new build has been uploaded.

when will it be available to the public for free?

bad testin', good bugfixin' :)

no actual confirmation yet that everything is fixed, where is everyone?! :)

Jonathan, not for months or years. as we keep saying, this has a long long way to go to be finished.

9th April 2007, 02:17 PM
Guys, you can't download this unless you are a beta member. If you are a beta member, just follow what Zilmar said above. If not, then you'll have to donate to use it, or wait x amount of time as stated by Smiff before it is release publicly ;)

Yea seriously you really need to release 1.7 to the public it has been months

Smiff_
11th April 2007, 02:00 PM
no, we seriously don't need to release 1.7 because it's seriously not finished. i think everyone using the betas will back me up on that.
if you want to help, give zilmar some money so he can do less real work and more of this. seriously.

Anonymous
12th April 2007, 03:24 AM
Speaking as one of the beta members, he's got a point about it being seriously not finished yet. Besides, it's not like it's that hard to donate, if you want to help out with things.

Anonymous
12th April 2007, 08:39 AM
Is there a place I can find all *SPECIFIC* fixes that 1.7 contains? I would gladly pay to access it if I knew it fixed some of the issues in Mario Tennis, for example. I think a lot of people would be interested in such info, and would be more likely to become a member instead of doing it blindly.

SWEET Love it

I am a beta user as well, and the emulator still needs a lot of time before a final release. All of you people who keep saying "it has been months" don't realize how much progress has really be made in these months, but there is still a lot of progress to be made. If they released it right now, there would so many of you complaining about little things that aren't fixed or working yet, but they will be fixed. As a whole, 1.7 beta is about 20x better than 1.6.

Smiff_
12th April 2007, 02:03 PM
Tony, the graphics issues in Mario Tennis are not fixed at this point. i understand why people want precise lists of fixes, but first we don't always know exactly what the state is (because testing takes months) and then the bigger point is we don't want people to think they are buying specific things, because it's a donation.

For all of you people who want the 1.7 release right now: All you can do is to make a donation to zilmar and become a beta tester ! It's not expensive, considering the amount of work already done comparing to the 1.6 release.

Thanks to Zilmar and the whole team for such a great emulator !

lol the poster above is a idiot! :)

This is done in their free time as a hobby. Its NOT their job, they owe you NOTHING. Threatening them like that is just stupid. You should thank them for what they have done and not threaten them for what they havent.

Thanks guys great works so far. Im sure one day even mario tennis will work (YAY).

Thanks for all your hard work guys. I'm a big fan of your work. I couldn't get Pokeman Snap to work with any other emulators so I'm really hoping you guys get that one to fully work. Keep up the great work!

OMG some of you people are complete idiots bitching and moaning or even threatening in one case just because the emulator is not released to the pulic for free yet, even though i havent donated yet i intend to do so in the next 3 weeks as i can fully understand all the hard work, time and sweat the programmers have had to put into this so stop your bitching and complaining and donate or shut up and get out. Thanks for all your hard work on this great emulator and may it continue to reign supreme as the best n64 emulator ever. :)

if you release it to the public, they (we) can find all the bugs so you guys don't have to test all things. that would speed up the progress

Anonymous
22nd April 2007, 02:23 PM
to me your a retard if you read you can donate to get it so they have testers i thought the same thing then i read on

24th April 2007, 04:26 PM
stop being cheap people and just donate the $20 I"m sure most of you have been using v1.6 for years.

the emulator is good and the developers spent alot of time on it.

V1.7 is alot better than v1.6 I got a pirated version of v1.7 but paid anyway because they deserve the support.

This is kinda cool idea! Why didn't anyone think about it before?

Woow!!! Getting paid by beta testers :D

I do something... then I go to the community and say: "Hey, who wants to pay to test my software!". Congratulations guys, you're far better than uncle Gates! Getting help and getting paid at the same time.

You gave me a great idea for my next project! :D

All i am hoping in the next pj 64 when it will comme is that top gear rally 1 will be emulate perfectly with the sound as well as top gear overdrive , also hope like many others that issues on mario tennis will be fixed as well . No idea if you already fixed the probs concerning top gear rally 1 and overdrive in 1.7.0.49 but i am sure you will in futur , keep the great work .

Honestly, I think what has ALREADY been done for just v1.6 that's out right now IS REALLY GOOD! I just played Super Smash Brothers the whole way through, and it lagged at times, but it was still playable as a whole! Perfect Dark seems to run even better, which surprises me, because PD requires the extra Memory Pack for the N64. I'll be donating $20 pretty soon (my bank needs fixing up first!) to get the 1.7 beta, but seriously, I can't believe how many complaints there are here. I read most of the comments on here above mine and I'm kinda surprised. Ah well, some people are just impatient. Really good work guys! The fact that it's FREE (besides the donation!) is a really awesome thing and is amazing. It's well worth the $20 donations!

i think its great that your makeing 1.7 but poeple realy need to stop bugging you about it i read all the comments above and some people are realy impatiant. thanks for letting us know about this update and i hope less people bug you about releasing it to the public soon. people realy dont understand how much work goes into making such a program and if they knew what it took they might not be so impatiant.

The PJ64 team is the best out there in my opinion. I'd donate, but I'm dead flat broke. I would, though. This is coming from THE SweetKool.

Actually, the PJ64 emu 1.6 doesn't work too well with Win98 after testing with about 4 games (Diddy Kong Racing, GoldenEye, Pokemon Stadium 2, and Super Mario 64). I tried different plugins that worked, so that must be a problem with the ones that came with the free package I got.

Well, as I think was posted somewhere, this is the last release, right, I mean, when it goes public. However, are you going to make it open source? And would it go under the GNU Public License, 1.7 of PJ64 that is? If so, when, like, I mean, when after the public build release? Just wondering...

I downloaded project 64 v. 1.6 a while back. It's been working great and everything, but I was dissapointed to find that I can't add any cheats to the game. I was told to right click somewhere blank on the cheats screen, and an "add cheat" option would appear, so I can insert new codes. This hasn't worked for me, so can I have any help?

Hahaha...
I contact Nintendo about Project 64 & soon Nintendo will close your site, because Project 64 V1.7 is commercial.
Available only to donators means commercial use.
I already warning you.
See you in jail.

To Sina: LOL XD this made me laugh for a long time.
1. He's not really selling any thing he's asking ppl to donate
which you donate need to.
2. hes just letting the nice ppl (donators) beta-test it.
3 Why would Nintendo listen to you?
To Anybody:
and will NetPlay be in 1.7?

ok. You guys are acting like little children. Report them to Nintendo? Why? They've done nothing wrong, and, what is Nintendo worried about? They're old N64 games. They'll never be sold except on Wii again.... So, it's not much of a problem. Plus, if I had a Wii, I'd download it just to play it on my Wii, cause playing on the PC isn't quite as much fun.

I don't see why you guys can't release a public beta at certain intervals like every 10, 25, or 50 build batches release one and include support for an output file of sorts to be useful for bug submission reports.

Anonymous
24th November 2007, 06:30 PM
Not that we don't trust that the money and donations are solely going to keep the website going and to help out with software and hardware expenses to test the software on, but lack of a public beta makes it sometimes seem like you guys are going the route of a commercial emulator rather than a freeware one and you guys are now in it for the money only in a "pay me for updates" type of mentality.

All we ask is that 1.6 gets some patches not just to a few things but the main emulator and the main plugins as well as documentation and language files.

In the words of Dr. Evil... "Throw me a freakin' bone!"

At least do start setting a time table for 1.7 and rethink about dropping out a few public beta builds to stir up public testing and bug submission reports. We all would like to help out. Help doesn't always require money. Time and effort also can pay off.

Why not release SOME Public Betas? It would be helpful to you because we could submit Bug Reports.

Anonymous
1st January 2008, 05:49 AM
Yes, but the only problem with that OniLink10 is that the creator of Project64 will not get any donations so he can continue the work on Project64. People can't just take of work to constantly work on what they wish you know.

Wow... 2008 and the BETA is still donation only, nothing new is being done for 1.6 such as service releases or patches, and still no word on IF 1.7 is ever going to be public...

No offense Zilmar and Jabo but this project is worthy of DEAD status. You both very well know Public BETAs would speed up not only the debugging and testing processes by allowing users who want to send in bug reports to send them in and help you on on a larger scale.

Quit shooting this emulator in the foot and go public already. 1.7 needs to come soon or people are going to stop donating and lose interest.

I want to donate to help out but unless I see actual progress and public releases... I'm not donating. Sorry but that's my 2 cents on this.

As for some of the spanish comments, for those of you who don't know, more insults and wise cracks. One more thing, ENOUGH with the damn smilies as comments. One more thing, It wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo DID somehow force a letter of legal action, begining with their 'friendly' cease and desist letter, followed by the IDSA, with their 'bit'.
