View Full Version : Project64 beta is for members only...

I donated a few years ago but now everytime I start PJ64 I get a message saying:
"Project64 beta is for members only if you have an account at pj64.net you should not be seeing this error!"
I've tried downloading PJ64 again but no joy, I've also tried it on my other PC but I get the same message.
I've read other posts here with people having the same problem and I've tried the suggestions of disconnecting from internet but always the same message.
Anything else I can try?

PM zilmar (http://forum.pj64-emu.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=2), I'm sure he'll come up with a solution.

Still waiting for a reply from zilmar, is there anything I can try in the mean time?

change your email address on the main site and then back.

Thanks but that didn't work either
Now that you mention email addresses though it makes me think that I recently updated my profile email address to point to my new address that is different from the one I used when donating to PJ64 and all this trouble has possibly started since then.
I've changed my address back to the one I used when registering but still no joy.
Still waiting for a reply from Zilmar as well.

I've just made a new development
With my email address changed back to the original one I used when donating, I ran PJ64 on a my work pc that has never seen PJ64 before and it worked perfectly fine.
I then went and changed my email address to my new address and tried PJ64 on the work pc again and it's now locked out.
I went back and changed the email address to my old one and it's still locked out.
Seemingly once you get locked out something is wrote in the registry or somewhere which prevents PJ64 from ever working.

Take matters into your own hands and use a modified version in the mean time. Look hard enough and you'll find it. This is obviously against the wishes of the authors, but they're not around so you should be able to use it. It works for me when I do decide to use the emulator briefly so it should work for you.

I added you to the alpha group .. try the latest alpha and see if this works for you. If it does can you send me a PM of the logs so I can see if I can see what is wrong.

when you change your mail address, it might require downloading the Pj64 exe again so it has the updated info.

I'll give the alpha a blast once the main site is back up again, I haven't been able to access it for the last few days.
I tried re-downloading the exe after changing my email but that didn't help either.
I have came up with another work around though, it would seem that when PJ64 locks itself out it not only creates a registry setting but also blacklists your pc via the PJ64 website something to do with http://forum.pj64-emu.com/com_validate_pj64
So what I had to do was delete the registry setting and then tell my firewall not to let PJ64 phone home

Is this going to be an issue if the PC running the program isn't connected to the internet? I'm going to be running it on a standalone cabinet.

Feel free to verify if you can ... but notably not.

it generally works fine on computers not attached to the net.
