What can we do to revive this site - seems to have gone pretty quiet.
First off I would like to offer my sincerest respects to the whole PJ64 team, I have been a fan since the the first release of PJ64. Secondly, I want to say that 1.7 is looking pretty nice - however, still seems to have similar issues to PJ64 1.6 in a lot of games. Does anyone know if the team is still working on this?
I realize it was stated that it will be a while before any major improvements are made - just trying to get people talking again. I wouldn't mind getting some new news on what's happening. Thanks

Activity is over at the old public forums at EmuTalk or the beta site.
To me today just seems one of those preceded and forthcoming days--not surrounded by other days of user inactivity. Things seem to be going up and down, and all individual cause for that of course I can't really guess.
Maybe some people have become happier; maybe expectations weren't met.
Development is dynamic, but the team members are also busy.
Was there something else you wanted?

Really just fresh blood is needed.
I'd say the peak of PJ64 was the 1.1 to 1.5 days.
Now it's slowly dwindling down, as all things eventually do.
In my case I've lost the passion I once had as a beta tester.
I can come back sporadically and I can deliver some proper bug reports but I doubt I will ever be as productive as I was 3+ years ago.
I can't speak for the others but I imagine something similar, more so for the people who have been working on PJ64 the longest.
Having said that though I have been missing the 'old days' when I used to track down and/or verify bugs instead of sleep. Its hard to say how active I will be though... the nostalgia often passes quickly.
Still, nothing I can do will propel development.
At best I would just document the problems as I verify them.

The saddest thing is, there won't be any.
Everyone wants thier Pokemon/GC/Wii/PS2 stuff emulated these days D:
Which is a massive shame.

Well ... thank you all for the replies - at least it's a start. I have been working with the Daedalusx64 team as a tester trying to help that project out - I like a lot of the retro N64 games and it is just fun to have them available for use on the PSP as well as my PC. I was just curious as to what was happening and you all have pretty much answered that for me and yes it is a shame that things are going stale here - seems like a little more work on this app would just about make it perfect. Don't get me wrong a lot of games run near perfect but a handful still need some attention. I am hoping for some fresh blood as well and look forward to someone taking an interest. I am available to be a tester and have some debugging knowledge, however i do not know enough to code for the project - besides the source isn't publicly available, I don't think. Anyway - thanks again. :(
btw - emutalk site seems to be down - hmm

What do you think about the 1.4 source?
http://www.pj64-emu.com/downloads/project64/source-code/
The vBulletin database message hasn't happened there in some time.
It was already decaying since like 2007. (Hm also of anyone who quit the forum because they couldn't convince my unbanning I don't think I saw an online date past that year.) There have been a lot of omens for that site, ever since Martin shaddup over there. Meh, his last post was slightly before I joined, anyway.

I think there will be a slight revival in a few months, when all the college kids go back to school, therefore forcing them to do other things.

To be honest my opinion is that the developers became busy with other things (ie life lol)
If you quit development on a program, then after a while the user base won't be as active anymore. It's just the way things go. That doesn't mean lot's of people won't use the program....it just means not as much community involvement.
Plus, let's say that there was a very small amount of development that went on, but it was hidden behind a $20 price tag, when the previous version was free. When you couple this with the lack of active development, you can see why the community has died down quite a bit. Not saying that the developers were wrong....I payed $20 myself. I'm just stating the way I see it as to why things died down.
In addition, generally speaking, as time goes on with anything, interest dies.
Finally, when you log on to a dying forum and you constantly see spamming threads about video codecs or conversion or whatever that aren't deleted, then you realize that if the site can't even be maintained then the project itself is probably on its last limbs.
Again, this is all speculation.

Oh, and to add to the community involvement scene:
I've been working on getting a mac installer up for PJ 64 v1.6. I've almost got it but I'm not a programmer and the mac automator tool is still extremely buggy, even in Snow Leopard.
1.6 runs in Wine no problem, but average mac users don't know how to set it all up. My installation routine would be completely automatic....but its just hitting milestone after milestone attempting to get it complete.
Eventually, hopefully I can start a thread so that anytime we get one of these people saying they want pj 1.6 for mac we can just point them to the thread.
