I'm using the latest 1.7 files, but no matter what I try, none of the 1.7 Jabo_DInput.dll versions work for me. Either not at all, or only in menus e.g. both Player 1 and 2 joysticks work in all directions in menus, but in game left and right don't work.

Using the 1.6 Jabo_DInput.dll works fine. I am using an iPac4 with a standard MAME layout. Not sure what other info I need to post.

update te DirectX and VS2005 runtime.

Not sure what that means or how to do it. I'm using a newly built PC with XP SP3, with I believe an ATI 4850 (off the top of my head) using whatever the latest 32bit directx version was a month ago (9c?). Not sure what VS2005 is.

Are there any major benefits to going from 1.6 to 1.7 for the dinput.dll? I think the only thing I could see was being able to map a pause button.

DirectX gets updates almost bimonthly (or sooner), and there is no version change for DX9 or 10 (or even 11). It's easiest to use the web installer every month too keep up-to-date since there are sometimes updates between the bimonthly offline installer. VS2005 is Visual Studio 2005, what you will need is the end-user redistributable (32-bit (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647) or 64-bit (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=EB4EBE2D-33C0-4A47-9DD4-B9A6D7BD44DA&displaylang=en)).
