I'm pretty new to emulation and I was hoping somebody could help me with controller issues I'm having.

I have version 1.6 and I recently got an N64 controller adaptor for USB and all the buttons work but the joystick is slow (if I push it all the way left the game will only respond as if I pushed it 1/4 of the way). This happens on all games and I am using an original N64 controller which works fine. I have tried adjusting the deadzone setting and the range settings and it got a little better but still not playable. The range is currently 65% and the deadzone is 10%. Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks!

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but seemed nicer than starting a new one with the same topic.

PJ64 is awesome in the number of games it can emulate, and how perfectly it does so. Many can be played with a proper (intuitive) keyboard setup, but some cannot. I mean I can play Zelda OoT and only need to adjust joystick sensitivity a couple of times with the default plugins by Jabo. Super Mario64 almost requires NRage for as often as I would need to do this, and play half the game in windowed mode to be able to switch.

I can go only so far with Mario, Banjo Kazooie (not Tooie) and won't even attempt Goldeneye or Perfect Dark, Mission Impossible, without more control.

So the question is simple and dated, 2009. I could get my parents to send me one of my old Nintendo64 controllers from storage in USA, but then I would need to find the nearly impossible to find Adaptoid to use it.

What is a good game controller that we can plug in to a standard video card port and configure to our liking? I still have a controller plug on the backside of my ATI HD 4650 card (I think) so what is an available and compatible game controller I could buy? Need one with at least one joystick, and 9 configurable buttons for N64.

Edit:
Contrary to some beliefs, Rumble Pak is not necessary to complete Ocarina of Time, so I could care less if a control pad has that capability.
