Project Update

The project has been on hiatus for a little bit, well probably about a year! With the payments, I have found another company to try. I have re-enabled the donation page to see how they work out. The account creation process is not automatic so I will have to create the accounts by hand. I still have a busy life, things have not slowed down. My wife is now currently 8 months pregnant. If this payment method works, then I will over the next few months look at doing some work on improving the site. Then I will get back to the actual coding of the emu, where I am sure everyone of you would like me to be.

ShadowFX 24th July 2008 08:14 PM

Most of us probably understand your situation. However, I think it should have been fair to have posted something much sooner about your previous 6 months not being enough to get back to your project. People, especially donators, were really, if already, losing hope.

Good luck with your life, as it comes first... second, your work and projects.

Nekojin 24th July 2008 08:14 PM

Great to see some kind of update :)

I hope that it will be possible to play one day 64DD games, or at least the Indiana Jones one^^

Anyway good luck with your family

Yay! A new update! My god, i was sure that you stop working on project64! I am really looking for the next version of it, since the last version came out in 2005! The only thing that can help me having a better "gaming experience" on those old N64 games would be the new plugins.

I hope to see more updates in the future too... just a little message to show to everyone that you didn't abandon the project.

Cheers,
A simple N64 fan.

Great news. All the best with the new kid. When I get paid next I will register immediately. Hopefully some day the sky in goldeneye will work properly. I would be willing to donate way more if that was ever a likely possibility.

Excellent!
Lately I bought a new wide screen monitor and I started playing with PJ64 again, and I just can't believe how good does it look and play.
It's good to know that is still being worked on, and every little update counts and shows that the project is still alive !

Good news for all us n64 fans ;D

Pj has always been my favorite n64 emulator and with just a little more work on it could make it excellent!

Any new plugins for new release of 1.7 ?

HatCat 26th July 2008 08:49 AM

Notice that the donations page is back up.

I think that's more important than development progress right now. The rest of you can continue hovering your hands over your cheap crystal ball; zilmar will never show up without a family.

"When will pj64 1.7 public release?"

Don’t know, but you may as well just donate as its only $20. I thought it was so cheap I donated a bit more. I am just awaiting my new account creation.

i'd almost give up seeing 1.7 but was a bit odd that you said now we have donations page i'll try and work on the emulator.. hmmm..

but i think as long as the project isnt as inactive as it was before and we know it IS actually being worked on a bit then im happy to..

thanks for the update zim

HatCat 29th July 2008 09:01 AM

You say that's odd?

The donations page was only a greater priority. People lost more faith in the project because he was silent than because the donations page was down, but how you want to judge that in contradiction to or justification of replacing the donations page first is up to you. The few users posting complaints here about inactivity doesn't show the total Project64 users population, so that's not enough information to silence the patient.

laynlow 29th July 2008 01:42 PM

Thanks for the great emulator! Good luck with the soon to be new born.

Icono, even though im probably wrong.. and believe me i am alot lol.. the way it "seemed" to happen was donation page went down.. and bang suddenly every pj64 seemed to of died a horrid death.. coincidence? personally i dont know but i found it a lil odd at the time..

i wasnt trying to offend or pissoff the programmers if it seemed that way :) because pj64 besides nulldc was the only emulator i loved using, plus i was about to donate myself before the page went down..

hopefully now things can get back on track!

This is great news for me, because I thought that the best N64 emulator was going to die because nobody worked on it. It's glad to know that as soon as I get a credit card I can donate! Here's to a birth of zilmar's new child and hopefully PJ64 1.7 soon!

Great work, and glad to see you back! Will donate as soon as my next paycheck comes in. ^_^

HatCat 30th July 2008 11:17 AM

The donation page was down because PayPal opposed emulation under their service. Possibly he stopped updating period after the page was down instead of before judging by the blog dates.

It's not a coincidence that he stopped updating after the donation page was down because of his explanation as to why he stopped normally updating. If you read what troubles he wrote you probably forgot about the donations page, and his finally replacing it by priority makes sense.

But it would make sense for it to be a coincidence because if you think about it...without a donations page there's no beta development. The people who donated beforehand are locked without anyone else being able to register, and without income the whole beta program basically dies to private work. So there should be a lack of updates for that reason, but he didn't even mention it in the lack of updates topic so you could be right--just he would have to have lied for some really contradictory/mysterious purpose to us. :D
