Donkey Kong battle mode Problem

How do you get the battle mode in Donkey Kong 64 to work so you can battle another person or people.

You have to get a battle crown.

HatCat 17th June 2011 10:25 PM

Hm, open discussion question here. Fortunately the public 1.6 version of Project64 has no effect on the information pertinent to this on GameFAQs about where those K.Rool battle pads are, where you get the crowns to unlock battle modes I think. It's been like 6 years or something since I've played this game lol.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 03:27 AM

Thank you

Well that is quite helpful thankyou very much guys/girls.

HatCat 21st June 2011 03:32 AM

And hey if questions of more detail subset under this, you can always find many answers to game play questions off the GameFAQs website.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 03:38 AM

Awesome, do you have any recommendations on n64 games to download?

HatCat 21st June 2011 03:40 AM

well idk lol I haven't been downloading N64 games these days, um, ironically I don't even know about the more popular ones, but I remember also enjoying Banjo and Zelda.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 03:43 AM

Alright i'll get them and see how they are. What console are you downloading for then?

HatCat 21st June 2011 03:47 AM

At the moment most of what I'm downloading is temporary internet files for daily conversation on various forums. :D

In general, I haven't been downloading games because at this point I've already acquired a collection of the games I remember. Most of them are for N64 though, for NES I just owned the carts for 5 games.

You know about Mario64 and Zelda OOT/MM right, if not definitely you'll like at least one of those three no matter who you are. :D

n64mario21 21st June 2011 03:50 AM

I have the Mario and Ocarina of time and I like them both, and what games do you hve for NES.

HatCat 21st June 2011 03:52 AM

The ones I owned the carts for:
  • Legend of Zelda (original)
  • Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt / World Track Meet (3 games in one basically lol)
  • Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • The Three Stooges

The last one if you don't know what that game title means probably not anything enjoyable XD.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 03:58 AM

The three stooges was a game on the nintendo! XD HAHA!

HatCat 21st June 2011 04:01 AM

lol idk why but apparently someone had some use behind the design XD, yeah it kind of mixes a bunch of mini-games and stuff like throwing pies across the room and answering Three Stooges trivia knowledge questions, etc. and making money through ways like that. It's kind of game-show-ish.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 04:02 AM

Sounds like a funny game that would be fun game to play for a while. Yay I have acquired a battle crown.

HatCat 21st June 2011 04:07 AM

It would be rather misc-like XD, an interesting break away from more popular titles. Have you played either of the other four?

lol I forgot exactly what the battle crowns do tbh

n64mario21 21st June 2011 04:12 AM

I have played all of them except the world track meet one and the three stooges one.

HatCat 21st June 2011 04:27 AM

Oh so you probably got one that combined the Duck Hunt with Mario 2 in a cart then.

Heh, I would think most people played those anyway XD.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 04:29 AM

Yep. Wow DK is hard without a controller on the computer.

HatCat 21st June 2011 04:46 AM

Yeah a few games basically need more controller sensitivity than as given with the keyboard. Generally that's easily handled in the configuration of the plugin you're using for input.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 04:56 AM

How do I configure the plugin to have a more sensitive directional system.

HatCat 21st June 2011 04:59 AM

Well it's under Options menu, "Configure Controller Plugin...".

Generally you want to look for an option that says "Range" or something. The range slider in the default plugin will set how sensitive the analog stick is when you use it in the game. You probably won't get any response if you set it to less than 15% though.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 05:05 AM

I have that set to 100% and how do you battle on DK because it won't let the second player in.

HatCat 21st June 2011 05:08 AM

Set to 100% for max sensitivity, 33% if you want more precision and slower analog movements.

Um, I guess a second controller needs to be plugged in. lol it's been a while since I played that game

n64mario21 21st June 2011 05:11 AM

Tried that but it mysteriously doesn't want to work.

HatCat 21st June 2011 05:12 AM

Using just a keyboard then separate controls need to be assigned to the second player's controller so that that person can access it.

Otherwise idk might have to start playing this game again just to find out myself XD.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 05:13 AM

I'll configure the entire controller and hope it works. nope didn't work.

HatCat 21st June 2011 05:19 AM

If it doesn't, not sure offhand what will. :D Ought to have a save copy map for where some other issue could occur there. Well I'll be able to think about it tomorrow.

n64mario21 21st June 2011 05:24 AM

well now im just playing super smash bros

HatCat 21st June 2011 10:08 PM

Cool :D should work even better in the meantime. Actually trying to manage an online game come to think of it.

Now that the other controller is activated it still needs to be mapped to keys separate from the ones used in the first controller so that the game settings for controller 2 can be accessed using that controller.
