Default Joystick gets a new middle position evry scene change.

Hi all.

I have an issue with my controlers and PJ64.

I am using genuine N64 controllers, a parallel port adaptor I built. It still runs fine on an older computer I have with W98.

Recently I decided to play on a "Newer" machine running WXP.

I tried a lot of installs, V1.5, V1.6, Jabo, Nrage, updates, etc.

The joystick keep having the middle positions reset.

Everytime the scene changes if I am holding the stick somewhere, that's the new middle position.

N64 should do that only on bootup.

Any idea? I am at a lost.

Hi ExtremeDude2.

The other one was in "General discusion, open discussion".
This is in "Public Version, Project 64 - v1.6.

The only traffic seems to be you.

I was hoping to get attention from one of the programmers. Maybe get an input from someone that read in other sections of the forum.

There are very few members logged on at any given time. A lot more "Guest".

I like PJ64. Liked it for a long while now. But if I don't get some answer I will haveto install 1964 or something like that.

Lode runner is manageable right now. Because it's slow. You don't move the Avatar/Sprite/Character until you have your bearrings. Any other game the joystick goes offset.

Thanks for dropping in.

You may want to try it just for the sake of testing

I am going to download and try it.

Just read that the Guru (Jabo) is feed up and packing it in.

Ho well. Easy come, easy go. Freeware come, freeware goes.

Too bad.

You can use L+R+Start to set the middle position of the joystick with a Nintendo64. I'm not sure if it works with PJ64 too.

Well, I have tried 1964.

That is a terrible emulator. Does the same thing.

I tried getting other drivers, No luck. Only PSPXP works. I tried ajusting it's parameters. Nothing definite there.

If I run PJ64 1.5 with minimal resolution (640x480) it's seems to take longer to develop the problem.

My gut feeling is that there is something that desynchronizes the simulation with the reading of the controler. Causing the emulator to think the controller got disconnected and reconnected in short order.

I can simulate the problem by holding the stick, disconnecting the controller and reconnecting it. I can fix it in the same manner. But it sure is annoying in a game.

You are correct Mr.64. Thank you. That does recenter the joystick on the emulator. Again it is annoying in a game.
