Default Goldeneye Framerate Issue and bugs

Hello all. First post starting a new thread, I know, silly.

Anyways, I'm playing Goldeneye on 1.7 and going through the first level, I experience fps drop to around 14 (fraps tells me), no matter if I'm playing at 1440x900(native) or 640x480 (AF off, AA off). It does feel very jittery at some parts. I have read other threads that the V/I number is what really matters which is constantly at 60 for me. But the game is just jittery at some parts, and the fraps number confirms this. I really want a good looking Goldeneye, as I am making a set of Youtube videos for Goldeneye with Fraps.

One question is that, Is Goldeneye fps locked in the rom itself? A follow up would be, Can the rom be hacked to unlock the fps limit? Probably not an easy task whatsoever.

I have not tried other plugins, but other people have with the same slow results with much beefier hardware than mine, at least for Goldeneye.

My hardware:
Summer 2010 Macbook Pro, Boot Camped into Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit
Intel Core i7 M620
4 Gigs Ram
NVIDIA Geforce 330M
Also, it plays Portal 2 at around 60fps, rarely dropping under 30, which I'm happy with.

And some bugs: the level Frigate shows greenish water for me. The red checkmarks next to completed missions are nearly invisible. Sometimes, pausing or resetting emulator causes exceptions/crashes.

FPS is the internally set frame rate in the game. Any way you could find to go about changing it would be inaccurate. In NTSC it's actually normal for the FPS to be around 20.

The green water in the Frigate level (lol) is a glitch introduced alongside the microcode support added for the game. ziggy's LLE and Glide64 have the issue as well.

Bah well the way I remember it, Glide64 discovered the HLE microcode implementation to add support for things like the sky and fx in GoldenEye using the microcode research from ziggy's LLE graphics plugin. Jabo re-implemented this in a 1.7 beta build of the plugin soon after as well. IIRC they all have acid-green water in the Frigate level XD.

Haven't checked the WIP-specific modifications of Glide64 yet though.

Pretty much all you can do is find an emulator that overclocks.

If the frame rate isn't good enough for you then yeah. Actually it reminds me somewhat of that 1964 mod for overclock in Perfect Dark etc. that might have worked here to test.

Heh you're a Glide64 WIP tester? Nice , it's not hard to do, rarer resource to come across though.

Cool XD, I look at some of the bug tracker discussions they had and the like, hadn't taken the time to download the individual builds released there though. Nice that you're filled in on the detail of things.

Oh and the 1964 version I had in mind was by PistolGrip I think...had no idea what the discussion is on that forum there.

Retro Ralph took over for him. You can read about it here.
