Project 64 failed to find filename in 7z file

tried downloading the rom over and over it still is the same problem

or they are still compressed... with fake extensions

You said u are still getting this error?

try renaming file extension to .7z or .zip and see if anything can be extracted...

and don't mention or talk about downloading ROMS it not ok here because its illegal..

it's not compressed and I tried renaming it to .7z and .zip and still same message, this doesn't happen to other emulators like dolphin

idk... if its not compressed it should work...
and the point was to see if the ROMS were compressed even with the .z64 extension...

u need to use WinRAR or 7zip to test the files and see if anything could be extracted...

how big are the ROM files? in Bytes...

if still nothing works... you likely have bad ROM files... and nothing we can do for you...

Tried using winrar it doesnt work and the size is 8,388,608 bytes

I checked my copy of Mario64 and the file size is correct... with a .v64 extension...

the file name for me is --> Super Mario 64 (U)[!].v64

I don't know if this helps but when I choose my rom directory in project 64 and refresh the rom doesn't show up

hmm.. try changing the file extension to .v64 from .z64 and see if that helps...
if not idk..

since its not showing up you likely have a corrupt ROM image.. BUT the file size u have mentioned matches mine...

how about where your files are located?
I use C:\EmulatorsRoms\N64\ <-- I store my N64 stuff here out of the way of the Program files folders...

try creating those folders and moving your N64 emu setup to N64 folder in that directory tree I just mentioned above and retest...
