Hi,
For a very long time, a really annoying issue plagued the emulation of the game Donkey Kong 64 by Rare. This issue is already in Project 64 since its very first release. I am talking about the character model's features getting 'drawn' towards the edge of the screen, also called 'Screen Tearing' by many users (although it in reality isn't). Not only does it look pretty horrible, it also can go berserk and send you out of bounds, not only in the title demo, like shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaXqWUyUskL but in normal gameplay too. I am perplexed by the fact it still hasn't been fixed yet. Is it really impossible to ever fix this graphical glitch? Because that would be quite sad. I hope someone could provide me with some information concerning the issue, its cause and the attempts at fixing it. Thanks in advance! Last edited by thirteen1355; 14th December 2015 at 08:54 PM. |

The rom requires a more accurate timing sync on the core cycles (loosely, the tech explanation is more complex than that), try running on Counter Factor 2, that would alleviate the occurrence by a good amount though not entirely...

I will attempt to compare the tearing between the two settings, and report the outcome. Does changing the CF require you to reset the game before the changes apply? EDIT: Well, I think CF2 actually makes it worse (of for a really tiny little bit). But is there no way to permanently fix this for the developers? Has this place really died out?
