Not to ****post, but when I checked on Lion's plugin in a thread he had opened, he had made it possible to do multi-threading for speed at the tradeoff of slightly less stability. Does this plug-in have that ability yet? If not, will it ever?

The person who implemented this multi-threading was not angrylion but actually a guy named "suanyuan"/Shunyuan.
And no, it will never be implemented, not if it entails the kind of hacks he did to do it. Having multi-threading being done meant merging other plugin types into a single plugin. His gfx dll actually interprets the RSP at a low-level using an old and slower codebase of my RSP interpreter, but built within the gfx plugin call system, just to do "multi-threaded rendering". Except this really amounts to nothing at all, because the RSP-CPU sync needs to FINISH executing first before the RDP starts drawing. There is no speed gain behind multi-threading anything other than the RDP commands at this point, and I'm not even sure he figured out how to do that. So think the most significant thing is just to optimize the DP commands.

Who votes against/for we have a new/backup forum for these discussions?
We would void out zilmar's Apache server problems from interfering with this discussion, and rather than having one colossal thread like this, we could have a bunch of mini-threads each with their own suggestion/questions for this plugin and maybe others. I suppose the "convenient" solution (since most people already registered there) would be CEN64 emulator forums, but then I would be posting updates about code not yet put into cen64, and possibly even in competition with. The problem with EmuTalk is that I have even less control over that...if content needed moderation or w/e the chances a moderator for that section would exist, who I could contact to do it, would be slim. Most mods over there are even more inactive than zilmar is.

Honestly, I can't really think of a better place.
Although I like your idea about mini threads. That would make things easier ![]() If there is an n64 forum that's actually active, then I wouldn't mind migrating there. |

There is nothing suitable about here other than the fact that zilmar happens to have created both Project64 as well as the plugin specs...my intentions are to support the spec wherever possible, but it might not be possible, when fixing problems like emulator timing.
And if you haven't heard it, this forum and website are broken. Several people tried to register here (actually IIRC Hacktarux tried to activate an account here or something too it seems), but the link between the paid beta account system and the forum.pj* domain is so complex that the forum suffers from more than just registration problems and post-registration login failures (crashes and inaccessibility, and Apache can go to fuck). On top of that, my work has nothing to do with Project64. My shit is free; zilmar's isn't. It is easily misrepresented. Quote:
No subsection or project-specific space is ever going to get granted on this forum unless it has to do strictly with the Project64 application, or if it's one of zilmar's vengeful pursuits of proving me wrong by means of provoking the human heart through jealousy over logic and reasoning. Quote:
I could put up with the "Plugins" forum under EmuTalk too actually. That would avoid the need to create a new subsection. I definitely don't want to create my own forum, for several reasons.

I can always ask for more mod privileges on Emutalk for which ever section you decide to post under. I rather enjoy lurking through some of the topics but I do agree with you both it's becoming quite difficult to keep on the subject when it acts more like a chat log than a forum topic.

Hell man I'm surprised it even worked for you at ALL.
I remember when my login broke! No amount of password reset requesting/email/SQL playaround got me a working password reset/verification e-mail. Took zilmar months to even admit to noticing that it was broken, and probably only because he needed MSN in order to get into contact with, most likely I suppose it was death-droid. But yeah, it's starting to seem more and more like, in theory, EmuTalk could work. The Plugins forum has 1 or 2 active moderators I guess, with Azimer being a currently even more active 3rd choice. I would probably have to make some new e-mail or ask some admin to get me unbanned from EmuTalk first haha. It's been about a decade since my teenage self pissed olivieryuyu off by dropping the F bomb off at the eccentricity of the former Glide64 fanbase. Sadly that was before I had academics and programming to occupy me. Well anyway, these are all just thoughts right now I guess. News is always scattered across different sites to a degree, but I wanted at least some people to think about a preference in the meantime. Because I know many people already have a preference over a board they can't log into!

Emutalk is a suitable alternative I think.
(Heh, I still remember when you said you proudly held your ban at Emutalk as some sort of medal ... or something like that ![]() Also, sorry for the offtopic but you should check out Gonetz blog again, he updated it with additional info. So it looks Kickstarter is not a viable option, but Indiegogo may be... Also he posted a draft of the crowfunding presentation here. Any help would be really appreciated. I already did a ton of grammatical fixes and paraphrasing ![]() Lol the forum moderation sucks, but it practically has no moderators at all except Zilmar and Witten (who shows up every red moon)... But anyways, I'll try not to do something stupid that could get me banned... dat checkmate tho.
What's that for? Did Gonetz say in his second edit to his blog that that wasn't an option either? And yeah, getting a ban over the interwebz is like a medal when done properly. I hated some of the inaccuracy and stereotypes, wrong and misleading posts all over EmuTalk. The thing is though, I'm inconveniencing half of everyone else by attaching free software discussions, to this pseudo-accessible forum hehe. Most of the other forum discussion here now, is just everyone bitching zilmar out for putting auto-ads in his installer to get him paid. Actually I wasn't even banned for successfully trolling all of EmuTalk anyway (I was pretty bad at it :3), just like 2 people who were religiously opposed to me using the word fuck who requested it. idk, tbh the idea interests me to probe Gent to see what he thinks about turning over the old, but he doesn't go here so idk how to contact, and I don't feel too fondly over a few of his buddies and I know he already does not like that, but hell, it'd be worth asking I don't know how many people are already frequenting cen64 forums, so if you would rather that be the alternative, better sooner than later for it to be apparent. And I wouldn't stop reading here either; it just wouldn't be a reliable centralization. Quote:
And that "smoke weed every day" thing is just something I say every time I read an incredibly dumb post / thing in a post. ![]()
