Unhappy Controller not working when Window not active

For a long time, I've been using a PS3 Controller for my games, and no matter which window I had active, my inputs would always be recognized by the game. I've had to get a new controller, and I got an XBox controller due to it being easier to set up with my computer, but now I've run into an issue where the game will not accept any inputs from the controller unless I'm clicked into the PJ64 window. This is an issue for me when I'm trying to do Bingo, or other things which require me to be able to keep moving while clicking outside the window. If someone has a solution, I'd really appreciate it! (I'm currently running Project64 version 2.3.2.202)
(And yes, I have "pause emulation when window is not active" disabled. The game still runs just fine, it's just accepting no inputs)
