No. we're not going over the reasons this is a bad idea again.

First, PJ64 IS being worked on by Zilmar. Second, it IS free, it just isn't publically available to download (as in the newest beta). He doesn't release it because it's in TESTING. You don't release software that's broken .. chances are other games that worked in a previous version now have problems in this version. There are many reasons why it's not being released yet... well. ... it's just not done.. and he doesn't want to relase it yet.. Cant yah just accept that. Shrugs..

As an alternative you could try 1964 1.1 it's new and it's very good, they finally got a decent audio plugin for it and it's fast too.

Have Zilma and Jabo resumed work or is it still on hold?

I have no idea what Jabo is up to. As of what I have read through previous postings in here, Jabo hasn't been around and Zilmar hasn't heard anything from him lately. Zilmar is working on PJ64 the best he can. It's just taking a long while because, well.. he has other priorities in life to take care of as well (like a baby...and if you didn't know, kids take a LOT of your time).... as of what I know, he is the only one working on it currently. That's all I know really.

As for 1964 1.1, I read that it is a premature release. Schibo, or whoever it is that does the main coding for 1964 has stopped working on it a couple years ago. Priorities in life ... The source for 1.1 was released when he stopped. Someone just compiled it and let it out for download... and as of what I hear, it's not much different than 0.99. IDK... whatever works I guess. I like PJ64 because it works more accurately with a lot of games. The only game I'm holding back on is RE2.. because you can't hear the voiceovers when people talk (RSP speech issue, it's already noted). Thanks for the 1964 mention though. If you are really into emulation, have you tried Mupen64?

I really don't get why you have to donate to get Project64 v1.7 anyway. It is not a fully working version plus there is a free working version of Project64 v1.6 which would give most people a reason to not donate. Maybe that's why we don't have a working Project64 v1.7 for public release yet because there isn't enough beta testers because of the money issue.

you donate because its nice to reward hard work.

not because you want the beta.

Well that's the idea behind donating but the way it's setup here, it's more like making a purchase more than rewarding hard work.

Two products: free Project64 v1.6 and $20 Project64 v1.7 beta. What will most people decide? Free. Not very smart for the Project64 team. If Project64 v1.7 beta were free to download, there would be more people willing to beta test and we would have had a stable Project64 v1.7 public release sooner.
