Default Best controller to use with Project64

Hello,
I am looking to buy a new controller to use with n64.
In everyone's opinion which is the best? N64 usb controller? Original N64 controller with the dual adapter (heard these have problems?), Xbox, PlayStation etc?
I am wanting to play multiplayer with most games.
Thanks guys I look forward to the responses.

I'm new here, but I just got the Xbox Wired Controller.

It's cheap. It feels nice, and the button lay out is practically the same.
I love it.

Ok personally I have used the wireless xbox controller. And yeah some games were just ok but majority were crap. Especially 007.
Anyway, interesting in the diffrence between the usb n64 controller and the original one with the adapter... are there some sort of connectivity issues?

I would have picked "wireless 360 controller"... but.. mines is wired :P save some recharables~

It works pretty good but it can be a bit... touchy so adjusting the deadzone helps. for games like legend of zelda using the C buttons on an analog stick is...hard but i have nowhere else to map them :P

I voted for wired XBOX 360 controller. I do not recommend wireless because Microsoft's wireless adapter have shitty quality and will die in a matter of months.

I don't mind the crappy D-Pad. Its not that useful in most N64 games anyway.

This, a thousand times this! The wireless adapter is garbage, I have a wired Xbox 360 controller and never had a single issue with it. The fact it's analog stick has different sensitivities (walk/run speed), makes it all the better.
