Default hiding graphical "layers" in games

Hi,

Is there a way to hide/toggle "layers" in a game?

Basically what I'm looking for: a specific game has a background with a menu in the "foreground", shown attached. I would like to hide the menu to only show the "background" graphics. I know this is easily possible on the SNES, but I am not sure if this is possible on N64 emulators.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think 3D games have layers in the same way as 2D ones. If there was a way to do it you might be able to with some kind of debug plugin someone may have made at some point, but I don't know of any.
