With the current version (2.3.2.202) of Project64, version 0.5.1 of Mupen64, and version 1.1 of 1964, I'm currently working on an update of Bighead's N64 Multiple Game Configuration List, which was last updated in September 2012. Now, I'll need to do some more testing to verify those settings, and some help from others here would be greatly appreciated, but for now I believe those settings will work well enough as of today. Other things I've noticed:
  • For Mario Kart 64, if you're using the GlideN64 plugin like I did for the initial tests, I highly recommend checking the "Render 2D elements in N64 resolution" option under the Emulation tab, and also confirming the settings while in the Video tab. At least, that's how I got the graphics to look right.
  • For Wave Race 64, I highly recommend "Fixed Audio Timing" be disabled.
  • When Bighead tested PilotWings 64, he found it ran too fast under normal circumstances unless it was the European ROM that was being played. I found no such issue when testing it in Project64, but just to be sure I played the intro sequences of the American and European ROMs back-to-back.
  • For GoldenEye 007, I followed these instructions to the extent that I could, and the initial test ran damn near perfectly, with seldom any issues, if that.
  • Body Harvest still has some clipping problems even with GlideN64, and the Angrylion plugin, the only plugin that looks more accurate for this game, may not work well even with a 7th generation Core i7/GTX 1060 processor combo, so for the time being I'll recommend GlideN64 here purely for performance reasons. Also, I highly recommend you disable Fixed Audio Timing for this one. In fact, you might want to leave Fixed Audio Timing off for most games from here on out unless explicitly noted.
  • Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is another game notorious for being rather problematic the last time it was tested; however, I've recently heard from Frank74 that he had played through the infamous Level 4 for half an hour without any problems. Also, I highly recommend turning off the frame and depth buffers for this one in order for the map overlay to work correctly.
  • GlideN64 isn't 100% accurate for Doom 64, but it'll do the job fairly well for now, and it's currently the closest any video plugin has come to accurate for this game as I can attest.
  • Blast Corps has an audio accuracy rating of 99.9% based on my experience; there's still a tiny bit of stuttering in the Rare logo even on the best of Azimer's audio plugins when combined with the most accurate video plugin, as far as I could tell.
  • For some reason, the title screen for Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire has a bit of artifacting on the video plugin I recommend based on personal experience.
  • Thus far, Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr. is the only game I've tested for which I recommend an emulator other than Project64; at present, I've yet to see a plugin combo for which Project64 will play the game even half-decently.
  • Azimer's Audio v0.70 NEW is the only audio plugin I could get to work for Tetrisphere with Project64, so it's an absolute requirement for playing the game on Project64.
Coming soon: initial configs for Yoshi's Story, Mischief Makers, WCW vs. NWO: World Tour, Banjo-Kazooie, Bomberman 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and a wide array of sports titles, among others.

Why WIP 1 instead of WIP 2 for Wave Race 64?

Do you know that 0.56 is not the latest version of Azimer's audio plugin but 0.70?

WIP1 is what came with my version of Mupen64; if an upgrade of Azimer's audio plugin from WIP 1 to WIP 2 is possible, I might try again with WIP 2. Unfortunately, Project64 still has audio issues when it comes to Wave Race 64 as far as I could tell. Speaking of which...

Does Wave Race 64 in Project64 sound any better with 0.70? I know for a fact Body Harvest works tons better with 0.70 than any other audio plugin; otherwise, I find 0.56 will work fine with most any ROM even today as far as I've tested.

UPDATE: The WIP 8 version of AziAudio 0.70 with DS8 has been confirmed to work better than anything else. Just disable "Fixed Audio Timing" for Wave Race 64, and you're more or less good to go.

Why use Public release 2.0? The more recent version is much better.

For the typical game, I'd prefer Glide64 over GLideN64 because lower system requirements with little to no accuracy loss when using Glide64. Although I see that you recommend Glide64 for Star Fox. I think GLideN64 is better suited for that game because of gamma support. Glide64 has a hacky workaround that requires using fullscreen. But I guess that's up to the user to decide.

I'll check that out at some point and alter the recommendations accordingly.

You forgot to mention Fixed Audio Timing must be off for Body Harvest. And I had not a single clipping problem playing through Greece, Java and America levels. I played Siberia with a cheat, no problems either. Only one set of stairs at the start of Greece cannot be climbed in the whole game. Public Release 2.0 is no good for this game, you must use a version after the VI refactor. https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/1414. Or better, the latest build with Rogue Squadron HLE'd here: https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/i...ment-321765676. Remember to turn HLE graphics on for Rogue Squadron, it's off by default.

I have FAT off for nearly every game when using Azimer's 0.7 NEW audio code.
MusyX/Boss games are the only ones that need FAT on I found.
