I have a 9700 mobility and mine is brilliant even now. So I vote c.

I would vote damaged/ overheated. The reason is probably the cooling on the card.

It may not be damaged. It may be messing up when it goes to dangerous levels. I.e. No heat limit. I.e. Not damaged but risk! Maybe a bios update.

I don't really know this area so try a bios update and graphics update and see what happens. If not, You may have to replace.

I don't think it is damaged, because the pink lines go away after I shut my computer off for some time. If it was damaged wouldn't the pink lines be on forever? Also could you simplify that, I'm not good with computers.

And if it is overheating/overheated than how in the hell could I possibly get the video-card to get cooler? Or is this a problem I can't fix?

My theory is that the motherboard doesn't know when to cut the graphics some slack. So update it. which is what a bios update is. Updates motherboard.

Be VERY CAREFUL!!! If you mess up a bios update, your computer may NEVER come on. It is very critical.

Oh man, did you really just mention graphics card drivers again? Try looking several posts back, already discussed.

Hey James, if you are saying that shutting the system down, and powering it back up fixes it, the only possible issue could be a overheated GPU. Didn't you say the fan died? The fan draws cool air to the heatsink, without that you're done for. You have to either get a new fan or just replace the card. Is that not an option? You can probably find that card or a similar one on ebay for $5. It's probably an AGP slot.
