Default Retrolink n64 strikes again

Greetings.

I accidently got a retrolink controller.
Issue is - it kinda works, but not properly.

Windows recognised it as generic usb controller, but in callibration it fails to see input from stick and D-PAD left, C-button-r.
In p64 emu it fails to see the stick, most of C-buttons and D-pad-D, -R and -L.

I tried n-rage as often adviced on retrolink round here, but it fails to pickup any inputs from the controller.

- Windows
Win 7
Win XP
Both encounter same issue
- PJ64
1.6
- plugins
Other than this n-rage thing - nada

After some googling, I councentered that someone was busy developing drivers for retrolink controllers on github with a fix for following:
The Retrolink adapter does not follow the USB HIB specification (section 5.10 and 6.2.25) and returns out-of-bound values.

Some bit later I found out:
From what I know this is a HID meaning no drivers are needed. thus the error is in the firmware itself and the only way to fix that is a new chip or controller. What does that mean? It means your SOL because no game controller manufacture will issue a recall on such a cheep device. It's best in your favor to return it if possible.

So it appears that I got completely irrepairable controller?

That's too bad x(

so I will avoid the RetroLink brand of N64/USB controller...
or is yours just an adapter to connect a authentic N64 controller...
I found these on Amazon.com
Amazon.com SEARCH:"n64 controller usb"

yeah that retro link had crappy reviews...
but this one looks better...
Amazon.com -- Bowink 2 pack Classic Retro N64 Bit USB Wired Controller for PC - Gray+Gray
- Compatible with Win7/8/10,Vista,XP. if its T.R.U.E. loi ;p

one Q/A was really negative....
and the other 6 reviews were positive...
no clue if this one is worth it either.. X(

Problem is, I browse through those amazon entries and I spot a lot of retrolinks in disguise.
Probably the same manufacturer.
