(These are people who are assisting with development in various ways, including monetary donations.) So what they are saying is that if I want to beta test 1.7 I have to PAY, I don't think I'm going to pay $30.56 AUD just so I can beta test a program.

if you don't want to help us with your time or money, you don't have to. you need to appreciate people here (the authors and donators) care about what we're doing and the money might not be much compared to the time.. so if you think the money part is a big deal, you probably shouldn't be donating, you can wait until its finished thanks.
