To the OP: Try Glide 64 to see if it fares better.

Thanks for the reply nintendo1889. i will try that, but when people ask what plugins i have installed, what do they mean? because i have just extracted the emulator from the 2.1 rar file and i have the default settings/plugins right? i havent changed anything but put AA to "off"
