Will a Dual Shock(with L and r buttons) 4 fire butons and d-pad

I am looking at maybe getting a Dual Shock 4 fire bttons and L and r buttons controller
Will it work with project64.
All I like t play is Mario Kart64
There is 2 joysticks on it.

md thats almost how i have mine setup except my a and b botton are on the bottom and right buttom on the right in that order

yeah that works too, whatever your comfortable with really. I was just trying to get it to as close the the N64 original controller as possible :P
