is there a way to install 1.6 in a different directory than program files so that admin privileges is not required to run it properly and save games ... base admin privileges protects program files directory and is a decent defense against hacking, so I would be very appreciative to find out how hard it would be to move the directory out of program files and into somewhere less secure so that the game saves will work right ... or is there another work around for this?

Heh, I don't really care about the official installer on the main site.

There's an archive of Project64 1.6 you can just extract to any folder you want to install.
It's not openly on the main site though (beta archives), so I mirrored it here.
