Default WWF No Mercy - Championship mode speech bubbles

I'm playing WWF No Mercy and finding that the speech bubbles in championship mode's storyline segment are coming up completely black. I have fiddled with the graphical settings to no avail. I know this doesn't technically affect gameplay a great deal but this is a fairly major factor for a wrestling game :/

Is there anything I can do about this? Will I have to wait for a later version or is my system spec too low or something? I'm running a laptop with integrated graphics, 512MB of RAM and a Sempron 3000+ processor (ostensibly doing about 800Mhz)

If you specifically know your graphics card you can try doing an update on its drivers; that often improves both performance, rendering and speed.

If it's still too low-end, though, and you don't find the configuration lenience you need in the current graphics plug-in, you can always change that plug-in to something else. Some plug-ins have better support for lower-end video technology.

Hmmm... most of the literature that came with my laptop is long gone but I'll see what I can do. Cheers.

Try running DirectX diagnostics as well.

One way to get to that is through a "Run" command in your Windows Start Menu, and when you pick that to enter "dxdiag" (case-insensitive).
