Default RetroLink N64 controller D-pad not mapping

I just bought a RetroLink N64 controller for Project64, and it maps all the buttons, but not the d-pad... I checked in the windows devices menu, and it registers the input from the D-pad just fine, it just won't map those 4 inputs...

I'm running Windows 7 and Project64 version 2.0.0.14.

Has anyone else had this issue? How did you fix it?

just solved this problem myself. Go to Options > settings. Go to Plugins, change input controller plugin. I changed it to Jabos Direct input7 1.6

After that it was mapping those buttons.

Thank you! This was doing my head in.

I got one just to see it would work before thinking about getting a full set. Found these to be the cheapest option (rather than original or 3rd party controllers with an adapter etc).

I'm using the latest project 64 with a standard wireless Microsoft Xbox 360 controller. I don't see any Jabo plugin, is it something one has to download separately? If so, from where and why? The d-pad was mappable in previous versions with the same controller.

Oh I figured it out ... though I still have to wonder why the D-pad isn't mappable by default anymore. If the newer version is an upgrade, shouldn't it be?
