Hi!
I'm a user of Project 64 with Jabos final 1.6.1 plugins and I like to play games on my 42" Full HD LCD television. Unfortunately I have a problem with displaying an aspect ratio of 4:3... There's that nice box called "Adjust Aspect Ratio to match yours" which allows you to play 4:3 games in a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (16:9) without stretching the image. That works fine with many games and is a nice feature... but unfortunately there's plenty of games that have a big problem with that: - Diddy Kong Racing is just as stretched as it would be without that special setting. Plus there are menu errors! - Super Smash Bros. has heavy graphical issues outside of the 4:3 area (that means the problems occur in the left and right part of the screen) - Banjo-Kazooie works mostly fine. But in some wideranged areas there are also some minor graphical issues outside of the 4:3 range (some textures go invisible) So I'd like to play those games in normal 4:3! That means in a nice HD resolution with big black bars on the left and right side (letterbox). Example: wordpress.mrreid.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/wire-4-3-side-letterbox.jpg Unfortunately I can't find a setting for that... I can switch to 640 x 480 but then I only have a tiny picture in the middle of my screen. For a full 4:3 resolution I would need 1440 x 1080 - but that setting does not exist! ôO I would be happy if could switch to 1920 x 1080 and let the emulator force the screen to be 4:3... But as it seems to me, Project 64 is not capable to do that. My television has definitely no possibility to force 4:3, I can just set "Unscaled" and let the scaling be done by other devices (e.g. my mediaplayer upscales 640 x 480 videos) or use the right resolution (1440 x 1080). My conclusion: I have only to possibilities: 4:3 image which is stretched to 16:9 or adjusted 16:9 image with graphical issues. I can't believe that an emulator for a game console that had almost only 4:3 games is not capable to display 4:3 on a 16:9 screen. Do you guys have any advice for me? Is there no one playing on a 16:9 screen? I would really appreciate any help! |

My dad traded me his 1024x768 monitor for my 1680x1050 one.
If you want proper aspect ratio (in most cases, some other wide screen ratios like in Star Wars) for N64 games in full screen, you should follow my example. ![]() Eh, it was more like, I traded him. His offer, but hell I couldn't refuse. |

Nah I still have that 1024x768, and it plays N64 in the correct aspect ratio.
![]() (except for that Star Wars shit using those crazy resolutions) Got to admit though, shit it sucks trying to get actual work/coding done on one of them small VGA screens. ![]() |

I always play games stretched to 16:9 because I absolutely cannot stand display space wasted by black borders. And many newer games have a 16:9 option.
If you upgrade to Glide64 or PJ64 1.7, you will get what you are looking for. |
