The Escape button and exiting the emulator

I am currently using a DS4 in order to play Project64. However, when I press my options key which is mapped to the XBOX360 Start key the emulator closes. I assume this is because the start key is mapped to the escape button on your keyboard and that is the default button used to exit the emulator. However, I do not want this to be the case. I would like to just be able to use the options button as the Start key for N64. I have not found anywhere in the settings to change the Escape key from exiting the emulator. Also in the keyboard shortcuts the exit button is mapped to the default Alt+F4 so im not sure why the escape key is being used to exit the emulator. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
