Is there any particular game that you want to run on this version? because nearly everything that can be done on 1.7 you can do on 1.6 or 2.xx versions...or so I read

It was never and will never meant to be public. That was all part of alpha/beta stuff until the development was more complete.

Everybody watch out! A fan of 1.d4!

Just kidding.

Ahhh Bobby Fischer, my father loved his play style, such a young and phenomenal player he was, I remember having one of his books explaining how he defeated Boris Spassky. Much to my father's grief, chess never interested me so much...

No telling how many people really understood him.
There were even some critics who argued that he oversimplified in positions where most normal grandmasters would have played better.

Though, most people have considered deep down inside he was the best of chess players (much fewer, the best of persons e.g. praising the 9-11 attacks and the Nazi reign over Jews, to name a few). Ultimately he hated chess in that amateur players could defeat top masters in the opening just by inflexible memorization, so that's why he invented 960 / Fischer-random.

But I can understand you not being all too interested in chess. I still get my FPS Doug moments with Internet chess issues, and it really does NOT take a highly intelligent, let alone well-behaved person, to play chess at master level. It varies directly with some mental acuity, but it doesn't prove we're not idiots.

funny thing about 1.7 is that it doesn't have the 2SONIK issue, even though 2.0 is pretty close to it (from what i understand anyway). always been curious as to whether it's really borked vi settings or whether vi has to be used as a bandage for something else.

Smile I know of a place with 1.7 versions of PJ64.

I am not sure if these are safe or not but you can find three different 1.7 versions of PJ64.

On gamehacking dot org.

I just found out something strange about the gamehacking site.
It has two seperate designs depending on how you reach the site.
