Default Save questions for Ocarina of Time

I am very new to using emulators...so I had no idea that when I was saving my game by the tab, that it wasn't actually saving it. I have a couple of questions.

1. In newb terms, can someone explain to me the exact process of how to save this game properly?

2. Where can I find a save point in Ocarina of Time that is right after Death mountain?

3. Where do I dl and extract those files?

4. How do I choose that save point on my game?

Thanks for helping a girl out!

1. Pause the game with the START button, then press B. It will ask if you want to save.

2. There are a few save files for that game here that you might look across. One of them might be at the right interval, not sure.

3. Save files go in the "Save" subfolder of where you installed Project64 on your disk. Make sure the exact file name is "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA.sra" so that the emulator finds it.

4. You can only have one save file installed per game, because the file name has to be exact for it to load. You could have the other save files downloaded to the "Save" subfolder ready to be renamed though if you wanted. Honestly, it would probably be easier if you just used the save state feature instead. Try pressing F5 and then F7 while a game is running in Project64.

Thank you. I had another question. Do I have to unzip one of these saved files that I downloaded?

Here is what I'm trying to do, I open the emulator program and go to open rom, it pops open a window that says project64 1.6>save and in it are 5 files that say LEGEND OF ZELDA.pj and pj1-4. These look to be all zipped. When I try to open one, it says "Attempt to open zip file failed. Missing or corrupt zip file.Check path and file."

You could unzip them, but you don't have to.
In fact when creating saved states Project64 generally writes them in zipped form.

You can't load/restore them using "File/Open ROM", though. It has to be through the System menu while a ROM is already open. When emulation is active, use the "System/Load As..." command to manually pick the *pj.zip saved state to restore.
