I've just downloaded Project64 and I'm really excited to play - except none of the ROMs I downloaded [I downloaded them all from coolrom.com] work. I have three - two are Z64 files and the other one is a V64 file, if this means anything. They are all extracted and everything, and I saved them into a file named ROMs in the Project64 folder to save time. I don't see any reason why they won't work.
When I try to open any of the three files, an error with "Failed to find filename in 7z file" comes up. The games are: Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time Master Quest [V64 file] Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time [Z64 file] Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask [Z64 file] if that helps. What am I doing wrong? Thankies~ |

Hey Emi,
I had this exact same issue a few months ago. There are a few things you could try: Go to File and select "Choose rom directory", and change this to the folder that you are keeping your games in. If that doesn't work, try converting your games to .zip files. You can use a variety of programs to do this, and your computer may even have a built-in option for it, but I prefer extracting it using 7zip. Sometimes .z64 files work, sometimes they don't. I haven't yet figured out why. If none of those work, try downloading your games from somewhere else. You may have a corrupt or invalid download. If all else fails, there's nothing else I can suggest. Maybe download a newer version of PJ64? |
