Is there any way to turn off the message bar when using fullscreen in PJ64 2.1?

So as I'm playing games in PJ64 2.1 with fullscreen, whenever I save a save state, a large blue message appears at the bottom of the screen. I can see how this would be very helpful to many, but it's a little distracting for me. Is there a feature to turn this off?
