So I can play the game just fine for a while, but after about 3 or 4 times of hitting "START" to go into the submenu, the game freezes and crashes. It's never in the same place on the game either.
I'm using Project64 2.1 and Jabos Direct3D6 1.5.2 as I saw specified in an earlier post. My computer specs aren't great as this is an old Windows XP laptop with AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ with 2.19 GHz. and 2.00 GB of RAM. I went into Settings of the PJ64 and what I'm running is... Video Plugin Jabo's Direct3D6 1.5.2 Audio Plugin Jabo's DirectSound 1.7.0.7 Input Plugin Jabo's DirectInput 1.7.0.12 Reality Signal Processor Plugin RSP Plugin 1.7.0.9 and I have Use High Level GFX? checked while Use High Level Audio? is unchecked. That's all under Plugins in general but when I go into the Plugins for LOZ:OOT I'm using... Video Plugin Jabo's Direct3D6 1.5.2 And all the others just say **Use System Plugin ** while again I have GFX checked and Audio unchecked. There's been no lag whatsoever on the game and the crash ONLY happens when hitting "START" to go to the subscreen (which is also how you switch weapons and save the game so... kinda got to do that). The annoying thing is that it crashes and then I have to start out again in the stupid Kokiri Forest Treehouse and run across the world just to get back to where I was when the crash happened. The only reason I'm using a ROM of the game is because my actual N64 resets itself during gameplay (wow... just as annoying as this crash... honest) and I don't have $50 to toss at Nintendo for a 3DS version of the game (which is stupid imo since I already own the 64 cartridge...). Also, the ROM is a European version of the game as the US version I downloaded the other day actually gave me a nasty trojan and I had to restore my system to an earlier date... fun fun... Anyway, not sure if that plays into the problem or not. EDIT: This problem seems to not crop up when played in the regular screen. Meaning I've been playing it for like 4 hours now WITHOUT it being Full-Screen (like I had been before) and I haven't had it crash (yet). Although in the submenu, Link's image is all glitchy/code-like with pixels and smudges and when I access the submenu by hitting "START" I see the inside of Link's home or the Kokiri Shop interior displayed as the background behind the submenu. That strange happening is only occurring when I play in the normal small window-mode as opposed to the Full-screen. This glitch is probably the rom and not PJ64 but I'd still like to know a fix for the crash in full-screen mode because I like having OOT take up my huge laptop screen hehehe. The start screen delay is a problem that exists in Project64, there is a gameshark code to fix this delay problem however it doesn't work very good. And as for the glitchy gfx that's probably because you are using an Old Jabo plugin.
For OOT specifically, I suggest downloading Mupen64. Not only does PJ64 has subscreen delay problems it also has slower savestate loading and improper loading speeds, or well too fast loading speeds. Mupen64 is a lot more accurate when it comes to emulating Zelda64 than Pj64 is. |

Despite other version issues,Jabo 1.6.1 is truly perfect for the Zelda games including near instant pause times and beautiful graphics.
It could just be a missing setting change to prevent crashes, but I can't test it right now. |

I might try that Mupen64. I've never used any 64 emulator aside from PJ64 because it usually did just what I wanted it to do, haha. Quote:
Glide64 for PJ64: 2.0.0.1 Jabo's Direct3D6 1.5.2 Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6 and Jabo's Direct3D8 1.7.0.57 -ver 5 So are you meaning I try 3D8 1.6 and see if I can replicate the problem again? Like I said, it hasn't done it to me in mini-screen... just full-screen. |
