Ocarina of Time, Cheat codes won't work!

Starting to get really frustrated at trying to figure this out.. The cheat codes that were already added when I installed pj64 and the game, work fine. If I try to add new ones, none of those work. I've tried infinite stuff, deku sticks etc. tunic colors, max skulltulas, and a few others. Nothing that I add myself works, I'm using "Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (E) (V1.0) [!].z64" Which if I understand correctly means it's a good rom, I've tried 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 cheats nothing will work but the pre-added ones.
