Well, I got it to not say it couldn't open it, but it still doesn't appear in the list. The only N-rage that appears in the list is V2 1.83

If you silenced the error by re-installing NRage then I guess either you did have a corrupt download, or there is some randomization like other processes running in the background causing the variability.

I don't know; 2.20's messed up as far as I'm concerned. The input with SSB sucks, so I'm still using 2.00b. It should be enough improvement.

My bad, it's still wacky. Back to square two. (or is it three? hmmm...)
I'll see if I can find that one then.
What good changes were there from 1.83 to 2.00 anyway? It might be starting to not be worth it.

Many changes.
1.83 is the last-ever release done officially [by N-Rage], but since he was inactive for so long, rabiddeity did an overhaul of it and fixed many things.

It has a later version than 2.00 but meh, better than squall's crap about xinput. :P I didn't bother upgrading, but if that gives you trouble, too, I'll send you the legacy 2.00 version I have.

it's almost as if the plugin is just an empty shell.

Well in what sense just to be sure?

Also you got the link I just posted before your post? Working upgrade of the controller plug-in.

No, I didn't see that, but I have it now, I'll get it put in and tell you about it.
I mean like an empty shell in the sense, hmm, like a dead animal. It's body is there, but it is not functioning, the soul is gone.

Hah yeah pretty much, no idea what they did at the 2.20 version. I haven't been keeping track of controller input plug-in development, since it doesn't really affect emulation compatibility, speed or stability, which is the more complex thing I have to test and keep track of.

Controller plug-ins...hell, if it supports the keyboard and can emulate the memory pak, it's good enough for me (except NRage has all those awesome modifiers as well).

Alright well this version better luck?

Well, it doesn't have an error message with it, but it still doesn't show up. Yeesh, even old Pj 64 1.4 is only bringing up N-rage 1.61.

I never really got what the modifiers were all about.
