One feature that a lot of people would like is the ability to play back their own music in project64, I don't think this would be hard to implement, any ideas?

There were more attempts to disprove than attempts to support the concept because it was decided as challenging if possible. Since the sound plugins handle Project64's sound emulation the only way to discuss this is in regards to plugins bundled with Project64: Jabo's DirectSound (or one of zilmar's sound plugins). Jabo's DirectSound is a low-level emulation plugin respected as the most accurate known sound plugin. No one has challenged that 'LLE' plugins stand no chance of supporting this feature.
The only respected (and by far for its famous engineer) sound plugin using HLE is Azimer's sound plugin. Who knows a better reference than him for sound replacement? Or are you not referring to sound replacement in a running game? |

Impossible to do in LLE.
Needs HLE done for every single game, which will take a huge amount of effort. |

Fair enough, it would be cool though

1. Load N64 ROM.
2. Turn the music off in the options menu of the game. 3. Load your favorite play list in your chosen media player. 4. Hit play. 5. ???? 6. Profit. Srsly, this works for me and I have yet to come across a game that I really like playing that doesn't at least have the option to turn the music volume down to zero. |
