Exclamation Races - Donkey Kong 64 / DK 64

Hey everyone.

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but I am having a lot of issues with some of the time-based missions in DK 64 (especially the beetle races and rabbit races). It always seems like the timers and NPCs go much faster than the characters I control. The rabbit/beetle just blast off from the starting line, leaving me in the dust. I've seen youtube videos of the races and it seems like this isn't supposed to happen. Unless I change some of the settings or find another way of fixing this, I don't think there's any way of beating these missions.

I ran into a similar issue while playing Majora's Mask on Dolphin. I originally couldn't beat the beaver minigame, however, once I set the game to 30 fps using a cheat it was no problem. Will something similar to this work for DK 64?

Here are my settings/plugins:

Project 64 2.3.2.202
Donkey Kong 64 (U)

Video -
Glide64 'Final' Date: May 8 2012

Audio -
Azimer's HLE Audio v0.56 WIP 2

Game -
VI refresh rate: 1485
unchecked "Fixed audio timing"
checked "Sync using audio"

Everything else should be the default settings

Counter factor should be set to 2 for mini game timers.

It was set to 1 for higher frame rate. But makes the timers run too fast.

I don't think "Sync using audio" works without "Fixed audio timing" checked. So that setting shouldn't have any effect.

There is a cheap way to beat the harder rabbit race via jumping over the wrong log and keeping the Orangestand Sprint power.
Simply get the power and jump over the wrong log to lose and hit B then proceed to wake him up again by jump glitching into a crouch to access Lanky's trombone to start with the power-up,giving you the advantage.

Or keep racing until he happens to get stuck between the Kasplat and go with precision to beat him before he can get unstuck and pass you.
How does anyone ever beat that race in a few tries on Wii U VC?
Though its been proven that the game can lag there too,but I think they removed your movement speedup somehow, throwing orange bombs then taking a picture in the right spot (like at K.Rool's island) can produce a lot of lag.

(maybe I should look at the race rabbit's actor data ASM again,to find the running speeds to set it a tad lower to compensate for the lack of lag)

Note: DK64 has a speedup function for the player character that makes them move faster whenever the game lags, making the rabbit race less difficult.

I can't even get past the first rabbit race :/ I'm not even messing up any jumps, he is just way too fast compared to my Lanky

I also can't make a couple of tiny's ponytail twirl jumps. There's the one in Angry Aztec's lobby to get to the barrel minigame and there's the one in Gloomy Galleon to get to her tiny barrel. I feel like this has something to do with my characters being too slow.
