Red face N64 Controller Calibration (Not Troubleshooting)

Hi! I'm new to the form and I hope everyone doesn't mind me asking a few questions. Like I put in the title this is not a troubleshooting topic, it's more of an OpEd.

I must confess I never actually had an N64 but many of the friends I grew up with did. They often come over to my place nowadays and we play Project64.
Since I didn't exactly grow up with it I'm not entirely sure how it's supposed to handle in terms of sensitivity and range (whatever that means)

I've bought two original N64 controllers

and a MayFlash N64 Controller adapter to PC USB

To hook up to the computer.

So far everything works perfect and I've had no problems in terms of emulation. However they tell me it feels a tad bit off. I mess around with the settings and they seem (to think) that it oscillates between not responsive enough and too sensitive.

Would anyone wish to share their settings? I really like to make it as authentic as possible. If you have a CPF file to share that'd be cool too!

Thanks!
