Default N64 controller setup for Project 64

Hi, I can't seem to figure out what my problem is with my setup. I have a Nintendo 64 USB adapter with a legitimate N64 controller. My problem is that the analog stick works in weird ways. In Super Smash Bros, pressing up or down during gameplay does nothing, but I can use it to navigate the menus. Also, left and right on the analog stick work, but they make my character creep along instead of working how it should.

What settings should I use to make the gameplay the most like a real N64?

Have you tried toggling the sensitivity of the analogue stick via the controller plugin menu?
