Default New here! Few questions

Hi all. I'm new here, and am interested in playing Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask again, and I figured using an emulator might be the way to go. I have a few questions though:

1) Is this legal? If not, what are the repurcussions, and the liklihood of getting caught?

2) If I download Project64, is there a large virus risk?

3) What is involved in playing a game once I download Project64? Do I download the game also, or is there some other lengthy procedure involved?

Thanks for any replies!

Maybe you should just get an N64 :P

Naw. Using PJ 64 is legal. Downloading roms, is not exactly.. erm.. legal, but it doesn't hurt if you want to use this emulator :P If you don't want any viruses then you will have to download this from the source (which is, of course, here :P) I can't give you a link to any rom sites, but google is your friend. As for what's involved, come back when you get the emulator and rom and I'll help you out more, so you can see what I'm talking about.

Even if they monitored your IP or something it's not like they could prove it was you or anything. IP addresses don't identify people or which WinNT account you're signed in as. Blame it on some guy who stood over for the night and borrowed your PC. :/

Ever heard the story of the guy blaming his cat for downloading children porn? It was hilarious :P Yeah, my IP's messed up anyway, says I'm from Tyler Texas. Not even close.

My IP lies about my location, too, just not intentionally. It marks the registration area but not what city I'm in.

Never heard that story, but I imagine they couldn't disprove that either. IP addresses don't tell you if it's a human or a cat downloading porn, just alongside it what the machine is instructed to do.

Well, they could actually disprove it, by stupidity. The guy said his cat hopped up on the keyboard and typed this uber-specific web address and clicked the right pictures and buttons to start downloading while he was turned away :P Sounds kinda like my luck if I were to slam my head on the keyboard and click the mouse button twice :P

Sound and stupid have nothing to do with proof.

Seriously man if someone asks you for your ID can't you just tell them you dyed your hair or something while using someone else's?
They can't prove that the cat didn't have anything to do with it either.

There is also this reason fundamental view that you can never prove a negative, meaning prove that something isn't true.
That's more like a generalization, imo, despite based on concrete reasoning. You can prove a negative though; I can give examples of that.

Nuh-uh can't prove that you can't prove a negative cause um that's proving a negative.
My Physics teacher from HS was thick.

Actually, they interrogated the cat. He had a pretty good alibi.
