analog sensitivity

i got a usb converter to plug in two controllers and it works with p64 but the sensitivity of the analog sticks is really slow and thus like on super smash bros the characters move very slowly because they arent reading "run" from the controlller. any help here? i turned deadzone down to 0% and it helped a little but not much.
