On wiibrew.org I have seen a snes, nes and gba emulator that you actually can use on your Wii via the Homebrew Channel. (Read more at http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Channel).
It would be really nice if you could run Project64 on the Wii too! ![]() |

1. theres no point, you can already inject roms into vcgames to run them via VC.
2. The wii isn't powerful enough.

I don't agree with "1.", that there is no point in that. If it wouldn't be a point why would they make the other emultars (the nes, snes and gba)? It's more practical to have an emulator and run the roms directly from a SD-card.
Are you sure it is not powerful enough? I mean, it runs on my quite slow computer... so i suppose it should be able to run on a Wii too. Sorry if I'm studpid now, but I don't now alot about computer performence like CPU, mhz and stuff... As far as I know, the VC games contains a built-in emulator. I mean, if that emulator can be run on the Wii shouldn't project64 be able to too? |

Theres no need to make nes and snes emulators either, those can also be injected into the console, however for those who have got modified consoles the emulators usually available ARE BASED OFF PRE-EXISTING OPEN SOURCE emulator source code of which PJ64, is not.
If you desire a n64 emulator for the wii, you will have to wait for someone to get interested in doing it and porting mupen64.

Homebrew emulators that are found on the PC today are Far more advanced/optimized than the ones produced by nintendo, and lets be honest the nintendo lack features... There is most definately a need to make NES and SNES emulators for the wii, because you have to find roms that are similar enough is size and various other features in order to inject them to replace the original. So for example you cant just take 007 Goldeneye and inject it into the Zelda 64 rom.... It wont work! The sizes and graphics and various other emulated features are far too different. I dare you tell my folks at wiibrew.org that you dont need emulators because you can inject anything into anything. Last edited by Cybertronic; 5th November 2008 at 10:21 PM. |

Squall is correct but if we could try to keep it civil that would be good... if you want to emphasise something perhaps bold or underline would look less "shouty"? but what you're saying is still correct thanks Squall_Leonhart.
All the PJ64 team want to do is finish what we stared, which is a Windows based N64 emulator.. there's no way we have the time to start any new projects, sorry.

They have mupen64gc on the Wii, but it's terrible. However, they are working on fixing the Dynamic Recompiler to run at full speed, and there already isn't any graphical errors.
